Hi

At your stage you would expect a annual COPD review with the practice respitory nurse, this would usually include a Spirometer test.

Hi, my doctor told me that I am suffering from congestive heart failure and type2 diabetes, so don't worry about copd at the moment, I am in more danger from the others at the moment, they are more of a life risk than copd!

My spirometry was in the region, where it would be treated more long term.

Congestive heart failure, at my age, weight etc , gives me a year or 2 to sort out!

People who have chf, don't live past 1/2 years with my health.

Your fev. Can fluctuate up or down a bit.

But does your yearly visit include spirometry tigers69? It normally would do. It's done with a handheld thingy that you blow into. That's what would give you the fev1 result and if they are not telling you the result and you want to know it, then you should ask for it. We have to be proactive in getting what we need.

You could call your practice and ask for a telephone conversation with your GP or respiratory nurse and ask what your current fev1 is.

Some here will tell you just to go by how you feel and ignore the numbers, but others, including myself, want to keep track of our results, so dont be put off - ask for the information, you have a right to it.
