Flaking skin

My body is flaking all over. I started using Trimbo for COPD 9 weeks ago & around that time this flaking condition started. Has anyone had this while taking Trimbo. Thank you for your time.

I am wondering if it is the skin thinning effect that comes from steroids and/or aspirin. I also get this. I do not take Trimbow but Fostair, both are made by Chiesi and contain 2 common ingredients (Beclometasone Dipropionate & Formoterol Dihydrate).

I work full-time and on my feet all day, I used to have extremely thick dry skin on the soles of my feet, to the point that they cracked and split and was painful. I no longer have that condition because it flakes off when having a bath. I now have a "soft baby skin" all over (I still have the wrinkles though). I have even lost the callouses on the palms of my hands.

I have the same problem I am taking steroid inhaler and inhaler takes but low dose. It tends to be my legs and armsloks like a scaly fish not sore. But started using Bio Oil most of chemists sell it in the moisturiser department. And it's been a lot better.

Interesting 🤔 My skin has become very dry almost to the point of being sore. I've been using Cetraben and Epaderm cream to help with that. Except the palms of my hands, where the skin is peeling off like skin does after it's been sunburnt, but there's been no sunshine here and anyway I doubt my palms would get burned. This started several weeks ago. At first I thought I had something on my hands, like glue when it peels off. I've been using lots of moisturizer. It's not sore or problematic, just weird because it just suddenly happened.

Try flexitol for your feet it's very good.but shop around on prices. Boots often have it on special offer or even amazon

I have this problem as well. It pre-dates Trimbow in my case but I was on Fostair previously.

My legs and feet are particularly bad but it is all over my body. When I take off my clothes, I have a shower of "dandruff" inside my clothing.

It had not occurred to me that it might be a side effect of some of the drugs.

I never went as far as thinking that …………. :)

Ha, same here O2! I've always had dry skin but it's definitely got worse in last years or so. I take a large capsule of omega 3 daily which may help. Also plenty of olive oil in my food.

You learn something here every week 😃👍

I do those things too P, but they dont seem to help. Unless of course it would be even worse without :D

That's exactly what's happening to me.

I hav the same problem but mine is my legs and arms and the top of my back. I never thought it could be because of the trimbow. Have a great day and take care of yourself 😊 Bernadette xx

Hi Jansy16, I used to rub Mum with baby oil after her shower when still wet and that helped alot. Didnt know it was her medication x

Yes, I have drug related, thin, dry skin. A couple of times the dry skin cracked and got infected (lowered immunity). Now on my repeat prescription I have aqueous cream for washing and moisturising and betnovate cream on standby for any sore/cracked areas.

Mine started with oral steroids and has continued even though I don't take them any more.

Me too! When undressing it is like a snow storm, but my legs, feet and arms are the worst areas. It never occurred to me either that it might be a side effect of medication as both my parents had dry skin in later life. I use a moisturiser but it has little effect.

Snap, I know steroids thin the skin...but I thought my skin peeling off was just me. I don’t use trimbow though, Qvar .

I have bought some olive oil soap and coconut oil to see if that helps.

NB ...A warning though.......for those on oxygen .....only use recommended products because of the risk

And another warning:

the petroleum containing creams ie aqueous cream gradually build up in clothing & sheets becoming a fire hazard. It can only be washed out at temperatures 60 degrees and above xx

It only occured to me last night, I was trying to think when the flaking started, I realised that it was when I started using Trimbo. I was on Relvar & Incruse before & didn't happen then, but feel a lot better on Trimbo so don't want to come off it if possible. I will have to see Dr & see what he suggests. Thank you for replying.

Hmmm, Good question, Lots to digest to find a good Skin saver without Paraffin. I also thought like 02 Trees, But No, although getting older I have all my life Moisturised my skin(Living in Spain) and I do know that Steroids Thin the skin, but shaking it off like dandruff !!! Also my Scalp has become itchy, so I have been changing Shampoos, Still itchy. We may aswell Join "Ninja Turtles" little scaly things. xxxx

Me too with the itchy scalp which has been driving me nuts! My hairdresser suggested using a very mild shampoo so I switched to baby shampoo which has helped although my hair doesn't feel as clean as it used to.

This is why they gave the advice in the previous thread 'Steroids'. In my case:

E45 oh E45

You are the stuff

That keeps me alive

If I hadn't you

I'd be flushed down the loo

Instead you have helped me survive.

(Just can't stop now can I) 🙄

I'm the same but because I'm on oxygen I use Aveeno Lotion, the with colloidal oatmeal , whatever that is ,it states suitable for babies so that's good enough for me . I even use it on my face . My doctor gives it me on prescription .

I’m in the dry skin club too, and thin skin, especially on arms, from steroid use. Happy London, once on this forum, recommended Epaderm cream to me, about three years ago. It’s my best so far by a long way, and fragrance free which suits my breathing. I get it from Amazon, in large for post-shower and small for my bag, lovely hand cream. It lasts ages.

I also have thinning dry skin and bruise Very easily. I’m presuming it’s the aspirin and steroid inhaler( + age of course)

I think so too. Also too embarrassed to go out with short sleeves as looks terrible with bruises on my arms.
