Hi all. Six months ago I was sent to the hospital as I was pretty ill. Turns out it was pneumonia, pleurisy and I had a consolidation on the right heart border. I was given antibiotics and was signed off for three weeks. In those three weeks I was sent back to the hospital by my doctor two more times as my chest sounded awful. The second time I was told I also had bronchitis and the third time I was told I was still getting over both pneumonia and bronchitis.

In the months that followed I was back and forth to the doctors with bad chest pain. Wheeze that lasts a few days then goes. I was tested for asthma but that was fine. The normal blood tests they do were fine. I keep getting these awful colds that bung me up and I can't sleep because I'm clammy and chat away to myself when I do sleep. Not to mention the stuff I cough up..

A week ago I was diagnosed with another chest infection and put on more antibiotics. I went back a week later and they wanted to put me on more but I said no. I have been on them six times in the last six months because I keep getting random infections. One in my tooth which can't be explained and one "just incase". I then the next day got an infection in my ear piercing so I was put on more. can't make this up.

I'm on 2000mg a day right now for my ear and I'm still coughing up the gunk. I feel awful and it's been six months of this. I'm 25 and fed up! I have been sent to see a specialist and I'm due to have a CT scan in a few weeks but I'm at such a loss. I can't work the hours I did due to being tired or my chest flares up again or I'll get a random infection.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to what could be going on or any tips to help me. I'm 6 months post pneumonia and all these infections.. I'm not sure what is going on and the doctors don't have a clue.

Have them test your mucus you are coughing up, to see if your on the correct antibiotic! Your journey sounds like mine! Pneumonia Dec.2017 took a long time to be ok! Then when the cold weather came...sick..sick..sick all winter! Finally after 50 Levaquin , plus warmer weather I am holding my own! Prayers for you! Janet127

You have my sympathy I’ve never really had any probs with lungs/heart til June last year when I got severe pneumonia. Since then I’ve had infection after infection this now seems to have lessened but am on long term antibiotics.

I know it’s prob difficult at your age, I’m ancient, but do try as much as possible to rest rest and more rest. Your body needs time to heal particularly with something like pneumonia
