Hi pottermouse. Iv no relevant facts about chemo and panic attacks, but as someone with breathing problems i can tell you that feeling breathless, maybe from chemo?, can cause panic attacks and anxiety. Please ask your doctor or nurse for help with this, dont leave it to become a major problem. Hope this might help a bit. Love burs xxxx

Thank you for your reply I do think we need to speak to the oncologist about these attacks and do think it's something to do with the chemo, and thanks for your best wishes x

Hi! I had Chemo years ago, and I had panic Attacks, but they were separate issues! My brain was so stressed that it depleted some of my brain chemicals. I take a pill at night and never had that issue again! Thank God..panic attacks are frightening and downright terrifying! Does your husband have any closter phobia issues? That would surely bring them on! Because of the length of chemo and in a confined space! When I am scared I hold my breath! (Didn't know I did that) does he? Chemo paralyzed my diaphragm/heart damage....therefore I couldn't BREATHE because of those issues! God is watching!

Hi

Sorry to hear about your husbands panic attacks which are frightening to witness. My husband had chemo about 14 years ago, when the treatment had finished he suffered a panic attack it was so traumatic for him that he told me he was on his way out and all such things, I called medical assistance and he had an ecg and other tests, which all proved to be negative. The Doctor diagnosed a severe panic attack and suggested the cause was all the trauma that he had gone through, operation, chemo followed be radiation, only so much a body can take, he had a short course of anti-depressants and he gradually suffered less with these attacks and is now free from them, Please get some medical help you both need answers to the problem the sooner the better, you have enough on your plate at the moment. I wish you both well and hope for a speedy recovery for you.

Best wishes

Thank you for your reply, we will try and get some advice from the so called professional people, but so far we have not found them very helpful and they get so competitive if you seek help from other Dr's our own Health practice are very supportive but they are only GP's and not expert's but they do offer most of the help when asked, trouble is hubby is as stubborn as a mule and thinks it will all just go away once the chemo is over. I am so glad to have this site where I can voice my concerns it helps just getting it out, thank you all so much.

love and hugs to you all and keep well
