PIP Assessment.

Just to let folks know, had the PIP visit and was here over 2hrs.

Very pleasent woman, went all through form again and was almost apologetic at having to do it.

Hubby was with me and corrected what l got wrong🙄.

Advised me they have to see 80% of claimants face to face interview. Other 20% are either at deaths door or psychotic (too dangerous to safely interview.

Said would hear within about 6wks, not her who makes decision etc...

All in all was unrushed, clear about her questions, patient with my answers and wished me well....

Was not the interview l had been dreading and will await their decision and update all.

One thing she did say was helpful with my application, was that ld sent in numerous dr or hosp letters from over the years!

Personally lm not so sure they check them all out with hosp or dr named, as use them as a way of gaining an understanding of the clients conditions....

Will let you know when l hear...

Give them a call sometimes t ca just be waiting to go to next department . But they arranged for it to go through to next department and a couple days later everything comes in the post. Sometimes they need a little push. I just said I seemed to be waiting along timem

Hello Janice,

I have a PIP person coming to my house next Monday. I got PIP two and a half years ago. Then last September I was sent a renew your application form. I filled it in. Added lung function test results, Blue badge number, dates and details of lung function tests, dexa scans, ct scans, a list of my medication, my aunty's cat's injection record and filled in how it all affects me and sent it off. (Okay not the cat's records but you get the gist)

They wrote a reminder. Agh! If it's lost I have to do it all again. Phoned them, yes they had it all. Phew!

January had a text to say your claim is being assessed.

March got a letter ordering me two buses and a train ride from home. Rang them they offered similar but a bit nearer home. I pleaded my case.

Now I have the letter to say they will be here next week.

So from early September to early April. Then a wait on results.

I think I've aged a year for every month it's taken.

Let us all know your results. I hope you do get your PIP. I know we'ed all rather be healthy but the PIP does allow for a taxi, or a few gadgets to help us. xxxx

Hi Wheezyof

Hope things went smoothly for you and that this frustrating farceicle is soon over.

The stress should mean can claim compensation!

Would soon get their act together then....

Ive just taken the view, what will be will be.... thats on the assumption nothing changes!

Will come back with outcome in due course...

Take care and stay well as possible.

My visit is next Monday. We will have to keep in touch and compare results. You are right about compensation for stress. Something needs to be done to speed things up. Hopefully after this visit I should go 10 years (if I last that long) before my next visit because I'm a pensioner and at the moment that's the new rule. xx

Hi wheezyof,

Well, l came home to a surprise letter today.

I've been awarded both lots at the enhanced rate.

Why?

I should say l also have other health probs and have been on DLA for 20yrs. l had inflammation of the brain and spine 25yrs ago. Got diagnosed with ME and basically left to rot. Was only 5 years later medics discovered true cause of fatigue and confusion.... much recovered but never made it back to work....

The lung conditions are my worst.

I gave them 19 pieces of Drs letters, result forms, scan copies too dating back several years.

The interviewer said they were most helpfully!

Sorry not replied earlier but only just noted l had any correspondence!

Hope things have gone well so far for you..

Hello janice,

I'm really pleased to here you got top rate PIP. Living in a money based society is not too bad when we are fit. We can chose to walk, bike, find the cheapest route, trek from shop to shop for bargains. However for those of us with health problems we often have no chance at all to budget, we have to pay up, put up and shut up. PIP to the rescue.

Enjoy spending your PIP on things to make life easier.

All the best xxx

Good luck for tomorrow!

I noticed on my 'result scoring system' that when l didnt need the help of another human, l scored 0!

Meaning the fact that l need to use a sat nav every where or write directions or lists in duplicate (one for bag and a copy in pocket or down bra🙄) this didnt score anything!

Also said l dont deal with any bill paying or household budget, husband does it all. That scored 0 too. Should have made it clear that circumstances are like that coz cant think clearly enough. She may have thought l never was involved with household budget....

Also mentioned needed help to do up shoes as on reaching feet tummy pushes up lungs and cant breath. This was not noted, only that need help pulling stuff over head and with doing up bra.

Assistance with bathing, only comment was need help to wash tween shoulders and waist.

Never mind help running and empying bath or assistance in and out again. Or if showering need some one to be there whilst on bath stool to pick up what gets dropped, flannel or soap etc and to help get dryed off and assist moisturise very dry skin.

All that may have been unscored coz she knew l had enough points but if any more was left out would not have scored enough for enhanced rate....

Still of opinion its a slippery slope!

Let me know how you get on, remember to describe worse days and as you dont know when that will be you need that help to be available all the time!
