Powder inhalers

Hi, I'm on a powder inhaler, and not sure if it is my imagination, but does anyone else feel that they clog your lungs instead of clearing them? I can't say that I feel any benefit from them, I don't really suffer from breathlessness on a day to day basis, unless I am exerting myself, mainly exercising and pushing myself

Ask to be put on Trimbow. I find it much better xx

I used Seretide and Spiriva for many years, along with Salbutamol as a reliever. I still use Salbutamol but Trimbow has replaced the other two. According to my chest nurse the same ingredients are in Trimbow as in seretide and Spiriva combined x

How did you get changed onto Trimbow ? I currently have Seretide and Spiriva, and Ventolin which I think is Salbutamol. So the same as you were having. Although this combination is a lot better than when I had Fostair, I’m still a long way from feeling as well as I used to with the inhaler I had before Fostair (or in fact the one before the one before that) and I can’t help thinking there has to be something better. I’m keen to try Trimbow but it’s never been proposed for me, and of course it might not work for me. How did you move onto Trimbow? Was it proposed by your doctor or did you request it?

I have a powder inhaler which I prefer to the sprays. I haven't noticed any problems, although I found the spray inhalers were more likely to cause oral and throat problems.

2 out my 3 inhalers are powder ones and I have no problem with them, a few years ago I was given an "Onbrez" powder inhaler, but I was allergic to the active ingredient "Indacterol". This was changed to "Spiriva" powder and I have not had any problems since.

I used to be on Spiriva, but was changed last year to Braltas - basically the same, but cheaper for the NHS!

Hi, I am similar In US ..have emphysema in that I only get breathless when exerting myself, and I exercise regularly. I honestly didn't notice any benefit from either Spiriva powder or symbicort. I quit them and only use a rescue ventolin if/when needed.Not only are both very expensive here, I didn't want to stay on a steroid without a significant benefit. It seemed like a waste.

I can’t use powder inhalers as the powder gets stuck at the back of my throat due to constant mucus.

I prefer powders. I’m not the best at breathing in deeply so the powder suits me well

Hi Skatergirl, I felt the same and asked for an inhaler that isnt powdered, the doctor put me on Seretide the none powdered one and I have been better since using this.

I refused to continue taking Spiriva in powder form, I agree with you it has a clogging effect and it has been withdrawn in the USA. Doc refused me the mist version so I take nothing now but Fostair. Absolutely fine since last October - I believe many of us are dosed with stuff we don't need.

Not banned - they voluntarily withdrew it but that speaks volumes for me. You can find the comparisons for powder/mist on Google.
