One dog and her man.

We both were young and active

On the day that we first met

We eyed each other over

In a way that I won't forget

We each quite liked the other

So a partnership was made

I became his faithful dog

And that is what I've stayed

Now we're twelve years older

And it's begun to show

We both have got the middle-age spread

And our movements now are slow

He lost his wife and then his son

And life became quite hard

But I tried to keep him cheerful

And I helped in that regard

We both have had our ailments

But bravely battled on

Soon we'll have that final one

And together we'll be gone

Midge

When he's busy composing ditties for all the world to see

And forgets that on occasions i really need a pee

I have a little trick that keeps him on his toes

While his head is full of words and very amusing prose

I sniff out his trusty slippers and leave him a little gift

It's really rather smelly but it certainly makes him shift

The real Midge warts and all :) xx

Thank You Midge,

I am Princess, just been through a Traumatic time with yet another Abscess on my Cheek, Mum & me both fell poorly at the same time, ( Mum on those Evil Pills). Luckily we have our Hero who looks after us, he's called "Dad" just like your's. Dad's are special. Mind you , I have not left my Mums lap all week, been nursing her Better, and she cuddles & Kisses me none stop. We are both Better for it though. Your Dad is a Star, But you know that already. Nose Sniffs & Licks for you Dear Friend Midge. Kisses from my Mum. xxxx

Naughty Don. All that praise for your rhymes, you've been soaking it up. Now the truth is out : your clever little dog writes them all. xxxx

This made me cry Don but I am sure you both have many years to go. My Jack Russell is 13 and still very active (cannot bear the thought of life without her). I didn’t realize Midge was a great poet like yourself! 🐕🐾

Oh Midge, you are one lucky dog, but I believe you know it. If your mate Don looks half as fit as you, there are many happy years ahead. Wonderful words, straight from the heart. Love Iris x

I hope that when my day comes, I'll be allowed to cross the rainbow bridge with my nearest and dearest, to join all our bestest trusty friends (we're a family of animal lovers)? See you there Don....? 👍

thank you - my Mum died in 2014 so it was just me and my little darling dog friend and companion for 11 years then very sadly he died when I was in hospital so I could not even say goodbye - it broke my heart - so cherish each other while you can - which I know you do take care both of you - xxx

in reply to undine

Oh no! What I blow that must have been not to have been with him. I realise that one of us is going be left distraught at some time. Hopefully not for a while yet. 🤞
