Tough time

Not really a question, just venting. I've been having a tough time lately. My last lung test showed 70 percent FEV1, but it sure feels much worse than that. Emphysema and asthma. Diagnosed at 64, now 66. Quit smoking 24 years ago. In addition to inhalers, was on klonopin or xanax daily for 2 years. Quit cold turkey about a month ago with no problem. Never, ever took more than 1 mg. per day. They did help with anxiety. Inhalers don't seem to help much. Trying to exercise, but as we all seem to know, motivation can be hard. Mowed, edged and blew my yard yesterday. That was good. Usually can walk a couple of miles a few times per week. No 02 yet. I have a standing script for pred, but those don't really seem to help, so I rarely take any. Tired during day, hard to sleep at night for more than a couple of hours at a time. Classic COPD case from all I've seen. Oh, well, thanks for letting me vent. Gonna go try to walk a couple of miles if I can. Best to all of you wrestling with this disease.

Thanks, @sassy59. I know everybody has tough times. Just walked a couple of miles. Beautiful spring day here on the Alabama Gulf Coast.

It’s good to see you though I’m sorry to know you’ve been having a tough time. You can vent here anytime. Sometimes just venting can help a bit. We might not always have answers (though someone usually does!) but we can listen anyway. Very best wishes to you.

I thought 70% FEV1 was good

He did actually quit smoking 24 years ago so don’t think the quit site will be much help to him. Just saying

Hi. Sometimes it's good to go do that walk even when we don't feel like it. Glad you were able to enjoy the early spring day.

You rant all you want to challny, its good to get it off your chest. Your tiredness could be due to other factors. I didnt realise that with bronichectasis comes fatigue as well as my rheumatoid arthritis, so if I have days when Im whacked especially if my cough has kept me awake a good bit, then I have days off and dont do much. Like you I have days when I blitz the garden and feel good doing it, I also have days where I walk a couple of miles instead of catching tne bus. The weather has alot to do with how we feel, now that spring is here we will all feel alot better Im sure. Hope your feeling alot better today x
