Hello everyone. Mum had the operation and everything went really well, she was out of theatre within 5 hours, absolutely no complications, back into ICU on the ventilator by 6.30pm. She slept through until midnight when they successfully removed the ventilator and gave her oxygen. Bare in mind she has COPD, that’s pretty amazing. This morning I went up to see her and she was awake, very dosed up on pain meds because she’s in a lot of pain which is terrible for me to see because I just want to help but I can’t take the pain away. She was talking in and out of sleep. Doctors, surgeons ect did their tests and were pleased. After all precautions were taken the decision to move mum back down to the ward instead of high care was made. She’s doing very well and we’re all super happy. The first few days are going to be hard for us all but we’re a tough bunch. 😆 once again thank you to everybody I’ll be sure to keep posting throughout the recovery.

That's great news! Very pleased for you and your family.

Just remind everyone that the fewer visits the better and no-one with any germs as she'll be very vulnerable to catching anything. Lots of hand washing and antiseptic hand gel! 😃

So very pleased to hear your news Lionheart, Im sure your Mum will be up soon and recovering well, now just remember to look after yourself as well, it has been a shock to your system as well as your Mums, and you need to be fighting fit to look after her. Make the most of this time whilst she is in hospital, catch up on your sleep and eat well, plenty of vit c/d, magnesium etc and a drink or two if you fancy it. Give your Mum our love x
