"NHS Heist"

Hi all, since closure of some members' GP practices has come up recently, here's a youtube which puts this into the wider health context. I know some have said here that they can't get appointments when they need them but there just aren't enough GPs. As someone (sorry cant remember which of you) said, we all should be rising up against the wrecking of our dear NHS.

Wishing everyone a good or at least a tolerable day :)

That is horrifying and it's going to lead to many unnecessary deaths. Also how will the older people who are ill going to get to these places? Many diseases will be missed and many wrong diagnoses made. It sounds like the NHS is going the way of dentists and I can imagine the poorest people with just get a basic service and you have to pay for the rest of it. Terrible. x

OMG Just how low and underhand can this Government get. Do I sound surprised - I’m really not. They have been privatising by the back door for ages. Folks wearing NHS uniforms who are really from private companies. My nebulisers are always delivered by the NHS. However where I live Lloyds have the contract to deliver all the stuff needed for people with cf to do their own IVs and in Leicester it appears it is done by BUPA.

People with chronic illness really need to see the same GP to build up a relationship and in depth understanding. Unfortunately for a long time now you see whose available. BUT not only to not be able to see a GP and even worse to base this on the system in the States is disgusting. I will forward this utube to everyone I know. Gone are the days when we used to sit in the docs hallway and when it was full we sat on the stairs, but he was a bloody good doctor. Made you feel better, even if the present medication wasn’t available. What a sad state of affairs.

Thank you so much 02 for bringing this to our attention. You are a champion campaigner.

This is very worrying. I have shared this on facebook, and hope that the general public raise a massive outcry and refuse to accept this situation, think we must all stand together on this. Thank you o2 for sharing this with us x

"The NHS is safe in our hands" said Teresa May. She must have an awful lot of back teeth.

Campaign organisation 38 Degrees are trying to raise awareness about the sneaky privatisation of our NHS and has petitions you can sign to oppose this.

See my reply below Whitechinchilla. You can also write to your MP; join your patient participation group - each surgery should have one and if its hard for you to get there you can write to the practice manager stating your concern; make your views known to anyone you can.

38 degrees is great too - once you are registered with them, basically by signing one of their petitions, they will send you loads more.

Shared on FB but it does seem a shame how all this is happening in plain view and it seems no one can do a thing about it?

Thank you for this post. I am not surprised as this philosophy started back in the Thatcher days and so many people I know who vote Tory little understand what Tory really stands for....privatization and free enterprise. I am alarmed and a little afraid and quite sad.

In my experience a lot of this is already happening ....

To all who replied: yes, it's shocking but as some have pointed out, it's been going on for a long time, escalating hugely since the Health and Social Care Act in 2012. But it actually started under Thatcher with introduction of marketisation into the NHS. And gone on ever since. You can google Health Campaigns Together to get lots more info and ways of helping the struggle. One of the best ways to help is to spread information about what's happening to your friends and family. Share the above video as widely as possible.

Another thing is when you are referred to a clinic, check it's run by the NHS. If not ask if there's an NHS alternative and if so (and if not too difficult, longer travelling etc) say you'd prefer to go there instead. That makes it more difficult for NHS planners to say there's no demand and then close down that clinic.
