Late nights don't pay. (Humorous poem.)

I went to bed quite late last night,

I don't know why that was.

I didn't have so much to do

Perhaps it was because

The ointments and inhalers,

The pills and tablets too,

Meant that going up to bed

Is so much work to do.

And so I put it off and off

Until it gets so late,

I cannot keep my eyes open

And my bed now cannot wait.

I lie there trying to get to sleep

There's noises from my chest.

I cough to clear my throat a bit

But still I cannot rest,

Now I need to have a pee

And use my Ventolin,

This isn't how sleep should be

You feel like giving in.

So now it's the next morning

Time to get me up.

Huff and puff, pills and tabs,

Make my breakfast, feed the pup.

Feeling really tired and

A pain inside my head.

What's the sensible thing to do?

That's right! Go back to bed.

Oh Mr.D....morning! Not that I'm even suggesting anything inappropriate, but you've hit the nail on the head here and I'm also thinking "back to bed" is very appealing for me also, after the dismal night I had.😴

My nights are the same as that. Can't remember when I had a good night's sleep.😥

I just get up late instead😵😴😊. Isn't it funny that we don't regard all these little things - and many others that have to be done, as 'work'. Some days I think 'I haven't got anything done today' yet I know I've been busy all day doing - something🤔. I guess being old and having various 'conditions' is a full time job😄.

That's it exactly, staying alive becomes a full time job! 🙄

Absolutely brilliant. Must just remember that one, hang on where did I put my brain memory cell? I fell asleep three times watching TV last night until Scott told me to take your nebs and tablets, and inhalers and go to bed now! So three quarters of an hour later... and still got " me teef to do". Bed gets later every day, even though I start longing for it around 9.

I didn’t realise you had changed your pen name and only this morning was wondering why I hadn’t seen your enlightening poems.

Glad to see you are still with us Don.😉

Me too. I hadn’t been around for a while and was wondering where Mr Rhymer had gone but thankfully figured out he’d adopted a new nom de plume and is still brightening our days with his rhymes.

Thankyou HungryHufflepuff. I did not know the correct term so you have clarified that for me😅

I’m just thrilled he is still very present and long may he continue.

Good wishes.

I don’t know if it’s the correct term, it just sounds like a good literary word for Don ✍️ Long may he continue indeed.

Good wishes to you too ☀️

It was thought that my numerous rhymes had become counterproductive as newbies coming on here for help were being bombarded with my silly stuff instead finding the help and advice they need. So I though a change of name and backing off a bit might be a good idea.

Your proofreader just struck again Cap'n ;-)

Why don't I see those darn things? They are mostly caused by my bent fingers but there's nothing wrong with my eyes. 😠

I would just blame it on the lack of a spellchecker ;-)

in reply to majji

I have a spell checker, it's a worse speller than me! I think it's looking for the wrong kind of spells ⭐🌛
