Severe copd is like a curse. As I sit here now I have no symtomes but as soon as I get up and try to do anything that's when it all gets distressing just to visit a neibour or answer the door feels like swimming a river but not being able to reach the the end its like drowning. So I sit back down. I can not arrange to go anywhere because I find I just can't breath. Someone ends up rushing me home or to A&E. I try all the exercise but mostly so exaustet it don't work. Just being near smells can start it off. If you have this condition get registered with a repriotry nurse and regular check ups and support even my doctor does not see how serious my condition gets. When I see him I only walk a few steps and sit on a chair in his room. I never got help but now I am very strong that I do need help and intend to get it.

It would appear you need to have your oxygen levels measured. Anything below 88% for periods of time or on exertion then you may need ambulatory oxygen.

Good luck with that. Hopefully the medics will be able to suggest some treatments to help you feel a bit better. All the best.

oxygen levels do not necessarily stop or increase shortness of breath, even on oxygen I still get short of breath. Certainly get oxy levels checked but also look into Pulmonary Rehab.

I know exactly what you mean. I get so fed up with people telling me how well i look which is probably all the steroids I eat, when really I feel awful.

I am at pulmory rehab now 6 weeks, I have been given disability and chose to have a car. The car helps do much that I feel I might be able to handle a little job now. Still out of breath a lot. Severe copd with emphasemia and bullae. Had an mri which shows pinched nerves. Diognosed with osteoporosis in my spine. Stopped smoking helps quite a bit. Tried to have a smoke and it was horrible. Only because my nerves are playing me up now feel nervous and anxious not smoking. I am 51 so I have to do something to try have a better life. Getting good support now but have to remember it's never going to go away copd it's nice to chat on here.

I gave up smoking 5 years ago it certainly wasn't easy as I smoked for 50 years I knew this time I had to give up.,otherwise I would be definitely dead by now,so please Nik5769 don't even try a puff.
