I have had mucus which is stuck at the back of my throat or seems like it is just sitting at the back of my throat.. it has been white but this morning when I cough it up it was very dark green..tried to discuss the mucus at the back of my throat with Dr yesterday but as I had an appointment for another condition he would not let me discuss it..one ailment per visit it was not green yesterday not sure what to do as don't know if it's a chest infection...any advise please..do I try out of hours

Please ring 111 for advice. A change of colour in mucus can indicate an infection.

Thank you

Go to walk in centre and it might be wise to take emergency pack antibiotics. Or even go to resus/accident and emergency dept. Your doctor shouldnt just leave you to re book again. Our doctor I can usually arrange a double appointment.

I need to go Specsavers I thought it Read " Mucus Queen" had to squint my eyes. I too am having a little problem, though not Green, If it goes to Green you would normally have to have AB's, Contact your Respiratory Nurse. They are there 24/7. Good Luck Emily.

I’d love to know where these 14/7 respiratory nurses are! None at all for me, not at hospital or GP practice or anywhere. 😢

Likewise! My practise respiratory nurse turns pale if I even ask her a respiratory question when I’m having my bloods done and wouldn’t even do my spirometry as I’m apparently too complicated!

in reply to Fennella02

The nurse at my practice is lovely but can’t even say bronchiectasis. I keep my main relationship with my consultant and her secretary and my ongoing management down to my own experience which is far greater than my GPs. The best thing about my GP practice is that they cooperate with everything that my consultant says. They have admitted that having me as a patient for 18 years, with lifelong bronch who knows what she is dealing with has increased their knowledge of its management. My biggest gripe is with government discrimination between cf and non cf bronchiectasis which is a silent scandal.

Our surgery the nurse brings about 6 weeks to check ok and arrange check up. One thing I can say is our surgery have been brilliant with me.

Hi LP, Mine are here, I have my Pink Respiratory card in front of me, Mine are based here in Nottingham, I can call them anytime, I know most of them, At The Rehab Classes they give this information out. xxx

in reply to Hacienda

Rehab Classes? Ha Ha Ha! Refused at every point because of bronch or postcode. Good thing that I had six years of it once each month at Leicester as a child when my Mum found the guy who was developing a radical approach to bronch and is the reason that I am here today to be such a pain in everybody’s rear end.

I hope that you are going to enjoy the sunshine today. My little Twinkle and I are going to take ourselves to the canal to watch the ducks flirting.xx

Lovely for you. Not available everywhere and certainly not in Birmingham or Warwickshire. Bronchiectasis adds another blocking of services into the mix. As I always say. Respiratory care in the UK is a shambles.

in reply to

I got hold of nurse available 9-4 ,,over weekend and I live in Birmingham

in reply to

Good for you. I live in Warwickshire. My consultant of 30 years is in Brum. With bronch you get nothing.

I was just saying

And I opened this discuss for advise

in reply to

Well I hope that you feel that you have had lots of good advice from the great folks on here. It is a good thing that you fall into the caregory that gives you access to a respiratory nurse. Especially as you have been struggling so much. My problem is that even if I did have access to a respiratory nurse, I know more than they do about my condition. Have a lovely day in the sunshine.x

in reply to

I get why you are angry now sorry though you was attacking...I agree but a lady on pulmonary rehabilitation has you condition ...so don't get it

in reply to

Yes Emily, the mysteries of the post code lottery. I hope that you are enjoying your PR.x

hey girl-anything from your Doctor yet?

in reply to les4560

Hi had consultant appointment...absolutely lovely he said I definitely have asthma but would need further test not just spirometry to confirm copd ...seeing him in 3 months and having test then???? Told me to continue as I am. He said Dr had no right to give me diagnosis over the phone as I have not been fully tested so you tell me..3/4 months to wait

Actually feel so much better today.

Not sure how I feel to be honest but so so glad I have him as my consultant..he let me ask lots of questions and allowed me to write responses down..he asked if I would take part in some research they are doing around inflammation I said yes..so he took bloods.
