I had no problem with Doxy, Cipro gave Tendonitis, erythromycin made me sick as I'm allergic to it. Never had gentamicin, I nebulised Colymicin, and also had Tazocin and Meropeham (IV)

Wow isn’t that something. Sad they will not continue with your care because you couldn’t have LVRS.

in reply to jackdup

Scary isn't it I have no lung specialist for 18 mths now nice to be given up on

jackdup in reply to

That is completely inappropriate.

in reply to jackdup

What is completely inappropriate?

jackdup profile image
jackdup in reply to

That you have been left with essentially no care for the last 18 months, at least from a lung specialist.

in reply to jackdup

Thought I'd said something wrong then always type something but phone types something else hado to on my post see if I'd mistyped something lol yes agree no lung specialist wouldn't even writelling me a letter out for pip that is when I found out she had discharged me from clinic I wasn't happy

jackdup in reply to

lol, never even thought of that when I replied but yes our phones will often “correct” what we typed even when what we typed was correct in the first place and can sometimes make for embarrassing moments, so the inappropriate was not anything you said. 😊

Doxy ok if you have no kidney problems

Cipro can give tendinitis but it is rare

Erythromycin gives me awful tummy ache

Now gentamicin we used to have years ago in antibiotics mixture

bright red purple one if I can remember 😃

I mean good luck with it all I know how you feel..take care x

in reply to

Bless you doc still hasn't phoned typical sometimes I wish they could walk in our shoes maybe they would have more apathy with us

in reply to

So sorry Kittie

Slip of the key Kittie - think you want more empathy, not apathy.

Hi Kittie, I notice you haven't put on here "Azithromycin" the 3 day a week AB. This one has kept any chest infections away, been taking it for Years. On another Post Yesterday we talk about "GP's" and how some are so bad, I changed mine for the Better. Sometimes though it can be the "New" Receptionist who doesn't have a Clue. Good Luck Hun. xxx

Thankyou just hate the kickoff of trying new stuff I hate change why can't an antibotic just do what supposed to and none of being scared to death of all these side effects now if happened we wouldn't have to worry changing over damm disease he never phoned me yesterday so will ask receptionist to ask him to ring today serious they don't seemed bothered do they

I understand your reticence to change as I get anxious about SEs when changing. Cipro put me in hospital and the rash was so severe that the scabs were still making me want to scratch 3 weeks later. I would not touch any AB from that family.

Plus I now have tendonitis though it is supposed to be a rare SE.

BUT

Everyone is different and sometimes you just have to try it and and see.

The BLF handbook on COPD receommends that ABs should be alternated anyway.

Hope you find one that suits you

Good wishes.

in reply to Whitechinchilla

Thankyou hope doc gives me one that works and no side effects whoo hoo I'd be dancongratulated on the ceiling then if I could that is lol thankyou for your reply I must admit I'm bricking it

in reply to Whitechinchilla

God I'm so mad waiting for doc yesterday appantly he wasn't even in receptionist didn't put me on call back cos he wasn't there going get him to ringet me today I can only appoligises is what I got when I phoned jesus bloody people but don't worry it's only friday another weekend without antibotics making it 3 weeks without roll on summer😠

For me the anxiety is because I live alone and have close family members who are anaphylactic. I tell my neighbour I am taking something new and ask him to check on on me every few hours. Sounds daft I know but it is the only way I can cope😂 sadly I am allergic to 3 ABs plus shellfish, strawberries and latex. But it is perfectly normal to be apprehensive,

Golly I hope I haven’t alarmed you.

in reply to Whitechinchilla

Same here your not alone hun but so understand damm insensitive doctors

Fine with Cipro and doxy but never had gentomycin. I have to take doxy with food otherwise I feel nauseous. Erythromycin fine too. Cipro is my go to ab for flare ups. Good luck.

Hi, try Doxycycline, I've had that after a course of Carithromycin and it's moved the infection along. Side effects haven't been a problem.

Hi again, Try not to despair too much, I'm on the last stage as well and find that every effort is very tiring, so sometime I do it & sometimes I don't, depends how the mood takes me. It's all a pain but it's our lot I'm afraid so any help is gratefully received from tabs especially. Those Lorazipam seem to keep me reasonably sane and I keep them on me in case something arises that I can't cope with. One funny thing I can only sit upright and Laying down creases me up, I feel I can't breath at all (I have to sleep in a hospital bed with the back at right angles) that seems to keep the mucus at bay till the morning at least. It is not yet recognised or approved in UK but I plan to have stem cell treatment in the hope it will keep me around for a while yet. I'll put up with the inconvenience of chest infections.

No guarantees with it tho' so a gamble.

Keep with it.

IKeith

Bless yer good luck with stem cell if it works put in a good word for me 😊 so hope it helps you let me know how u get on I just hate all these Meds side effects an all if u come across a time machine I'll be coming pilote and start again lol
