The intro I performed just 2 days ago, (you can tell my breathing is a little compromised...this was the 8th take), then I bring in my studio remake from 24 years ago. I'm wearing the jacket that George Harrison wore in the movie Help, when The Beatles were "recording" "I Need You", at Salisbury Plain. Although mine is tan and George's was green.

Cheers, and thank you! To inspire is the goal... To think of the inspiration The Beatles gave me...I could write volumes. Always something to look forward to, and always a good message. I was glad Led Zeppelin was there at the time The Beatles broke up, to sort of take over (but not really). When The Beatles were together, the music was in the very best of hands!

And I my friend, am still listening to George, solo, with the Beatles and with the Traveling Wilburys....I can't remember a time in my life that I haven't listened to him Tom Petty, or Bowie!!

That's teetotally great! I was told Liddypool has produced more successful acts than any other town ever. I love the line that Gerry and the Pacemakers wrote in "Ferry across the Mersey"..."we don't care what your name is boy, we'll never turn you away". So very positive.

Great recording. What key were you playing in? Was it D or G? My singing group has asked to sing "Something" but the guitar chords in C are a bit of a challenge.

Thanks, Ergendi...Great you have a singing group...great exercise for us COPD'ers. The harmonica is the best "wind" instrument for breaking up excess mucus, so I try to do a bit of that everyday as well.

For "Something"...

The opening upward chromatic lick lands on C and a C major chord...then the root, comes down chromatically to the major 7th, then the flat 7th, then to the chord of F...then a D7 (V chord of G) to a G chord...which as the V of C, takes us back to the key of C, and a C chord. But instead of C, George goes to Am (the relative minor...what we might call a deceptive cadence) and chromatically comes down with Ami to Ami-Maj7th to Ami7 then to another D dominant chord (but this time a D9). Finally the supporting chords of the opening lick of F, Eb, G, and C.

The bridge (middle 8) the main lick doesn't stop at C but C# (genius) which is the 3rd of an A major chord...so a modulation to the key of A. If Ami is the relative minor of C, then we say A major is the parallel major of Ami. So the progression moves through A. A to C#mi to F#mi7 to A, then D and G to A. Repeat that but the ending chord will be C, which starts the guitar solo. The ending (coda) does the F, Eb, and G cadence again to A with the lick going to C#, then repeat it but the end chord goes to C with the lick, once again finishing on C.
