Flowers..

I love those flower stands in London..and the bouquets 💐they make..I missed that in chocolate, cheese and wine country..all I saw were huge Dutch lorries full of greenhouse flowers.

And so London life goes on. I managed a 1h30 walk sitting on a few benches on the way, looking where I was sitting 😃 and walking very slowly but weather was mild and I felt good. I can walk up one flight of stairs.

Had my first acupuncture session on Tuesday and he said every Tuesday. He is trying to stimulate my dead adrenal glands thanks to steroids, of course silly me I forgot they produce adrenaline, which is why not having any, I feel flat as a pancake. Anyway it took my pains away for 48 hours and I feel so grateful for the break.

I am drinking buckwheat tea, that’s lovely. So you put one dose in your mug in the morning and you keep on filling it up with the kettle all day. Actually I look forward to it now.

The capsules are easy to swallow of course but the black granules twice a day are yucky to swallow. I think it must be a liquorice base, it’s just the swallowing takes time and a lot of buckwheat tea 😃 but I won’t complain.

So I got the diagnosis of exogenous Cushing Syndrome induced by steroids and I am now waiting for my hospital appointment in Neurology at their chronic pain clinic in Lyons.

Not looking forward to that nor the train trip back but this time I’ll book the assistance, learned my lesson. Still.. missing Bea and Aria..Bea is making wonders in the flat and Aria is sitting in my tray in the middle of the dining-room table. How strange is that?? Waiting for me to have a cup of tea and giving her a cuddle I think..

Wishing you well xx

Hi Fran what a a lovely pic that is, so pleased to hear that you managed to get some pain relief it must have felt good. How is your mum doing g well I hope? I'm sure Aria and Bea will be so pleased to see you., Hope you have a safe journey home. Take care of yourself and stay positive as you usually do.😊 Bernadette xx

in reply to Damon1864

Hello Bernadette

Thank you 😊

I hope I can go home at the end of the month though I must say they have been very helpful at the RBH, getting in touch with my Lyon hospital and insisting on pain evaluation and treatment there.

Mum is suffering..it’s never ending..they tried opoids now Acupan injections which she didn’t respond well to so the GP said take it by mouth she said it was awful and bitter. I thought how is it going to help by mouth if it doesn’t help by injection?

Anyway my brother will go down beginning of March and I said bring her back to me because I don’t have the energy for the journey so I will get her treated next to me till she hates the Swiss weather again and wants to move back 😃

London has kept me positive. Everything is easy to get to. I have my bus pass for when I am tired and I can see things from my bus seat 😉

So nice to see everyone again.

Wishing you well,

Love,

Fran xx

Absolutely book the assistance, Fran. Lessen the stress esp. with little adrenaline/epinephrine being produced in the "flight-fight" response. The adrenal glands sit atop the kidneys or renal glands...hence ad-renal. I told you coming down from Glasgow to London Euston, and finally Gatwick...British rail had someone waiting to help me at each change, with a buggy to take me to the next platform. I felt like royalty.

The 21st I have my next cystoscopy (ouch) to see if the neoplasia is back in my bladder. If not, then it's two years and I can go back on the lung donor list.

in reply to Sharp5Flat13

Hello Sharp

Yes you did and I will follow your advice.

I don’t get the sentence «Lessen..response» how do you do that?

Lots of anesthesia for that cystoscopy I hope..thinking of you!!

Good morning Fran, the photo takes me back to when I would travel with Pete to the Royal Brompton and would pass a lovely flower stand just like that. Also beautiful shops and high end restaurants.

I’m pleased your doing better and the acupuncture is helping. When Petes steroids were stopped in hospital when he had sepsis I believe his adrenal glands were affected. He soon picked up when put back on steroids. I know Cushings rule them out but getting done help is a good thing.

I must look out for buckwheat tea as I like my different teas.

Have a lovely day and a good weekend. It’s a horrible day here weather wise but we have friends visiting.

Love and hugs to you, Bea and the lovely Aria who’s waiting for you. Xxxx 💕😘💕😘

in reply to sassy59

Good Morning Carole 🌸

Exactly what I did going to the RBH 😃

Did they? That’s interesting..I bet he picked up again, unfortunately I have to taper down again by 5mg on Monday 18th or fortunately for the long term who knows.

I couldn’t do it without that added acupuncture support or will see what they offer at the pain clinic.

I mean it was insensitive to leave me like this in the first place and I did specifically ask when the Endocrinologist switched me from Prednisone to Hydrocortisone, is there going to be any problem, he said no.

Imagine when I stopped passing water, that was a shock.

So we live and learn and thank goodness there is always an hospital to fix us..

My aunt, cousin and her daughters are coming down from Lancaster tomorrow. I hope all goes well on the train with that awful windy weather.

Really looking forward to see them again.

Have a lovely weekend xx

Fran 😘💕🌷🌸🧚🏻‍♀️🍀💓

A very welcomed post from you my dear, telling us positive things, which is a fabulous tonic to start your morning! Acupuncture can be of immense help to some and I'm so glad you can already see some improvements etc. You walked,at your own pace, regular pit stops and 90,yes 90 mins later you reached your destination.... U r a total trooper, you really are a great role model for setting a goal and reaching it. Well done! Terrific!

Hope you enjoy the family visiting during the week and by then you'll probably be doing a bungee jump!!!

Best wishes.

So glad you’re still doing so well in Happy London, Fran 💕 The walk sounds lovely....along the river? My London geography is a bit mixed, but often went to Tate Britain in Pimlico, then took the river taxi to Tate Modern. Lovely on a bright day!

Enjoy your visit from your relatives in Lancaster. The windy weather has completely slowed down here so their trip should be alright.

Lovely flower shop 🌹🌼🌸🌹💐

Take care xx Penny xx

Well happy cockney lass i think you and Mum will do well to have joint acupuncture sessions for pain relief though i am not sure she will be sipping buckwheat tea any day soon :)

I had a chuckle imagining you swanning down the Kings road in your mini skirt popping in and out of trendy boutiques,Absolutely fabulous came to mind,so which would you be Edina or Patsy and would Bea be Saffron? :)

Cheeky Ski's and Scruff's the cat xx

in reply to skischool

Haha..Adopted Mancunian 🎿..I wouldn’t see my Mum with needles nor without a proper cup of tea. Actually a lady saw me pour the buckwheat into a cup today and it said What’s that All Bran? 😃 it looks just like All Bran! But it doesn’t taste or feel like All Bran I reassure you 😜

Mini skirts?? In your dreams my dear Skis that would be mutton🐑 dressed up as lamb!!

I saw a picture of them the other day, are they doing a Happylondon comeback?? Copy cats 🤣

Take care 🎿 xx

Hi Fran, so glad you’re enjoying London. I lived in Pimlico, in St George’s square over looming the river (over 10 years ago now!) when I worked at Great Ormond St, and used to love walking all over central London. Pimlico has a lovely florist and your picture reminded me of it. Sorry for your latest diagnosis of cushings but hope you are able to get help for it and continue enjoying London life.

Hi Fran, we have a couple of these flower shops in Manchester, its always cheery to see. Wow that was some walk, hope you have recovered. Glad to hear you have found some pain relief with acupuncture and hope he manages to give you a respite you sorely need. Have fun with your relatives from Lancaster. Im sure Bea and Aria are missing you just as much as you are missing them. It will be good to catch up with your Mum, hope she is doing ok. I dont know how you have managed to spend so much time away from home, even though you have been busy and seeing alot, two weeks is enough time for me ha! Have a safe trip home and take good care x

in reply to Izb1

Thank you Irene 😊

Well the flat isn’t finished yet and I am quite happy here away from the cold winter. It isn’t home really there. I don’t know where home is anymore since I left England all of a sudden to move there to look after Dad.

Actually I have to figure it out 😃

The other day I saw my old bus and was ready to hop on it and go home.

So if it wasn’t for Brexit making everything more complicated than it should be I could well be back.

Bea will move on soon and I expect I can look after Aria a little.

I will figure it out in time I think.

Have a lovely weekend xx

Love,

Fran

I know just what you mean Fran. I spent 10 years out of the UK living in Hong Kong and Germany and averaged 9 moves in that 10 years, so must admit to feeling homless when I left my ex. But home is where you are happiest, thats when you put down roots. You never know what is round the corner, life has a way of giving the unexpected at a moments notice. You are a very happy positive person so have no doubt that home is where ever you are. Didnt realise the flat was still a work in progress, hope it is finished for when you get back. Take good care x

in reply to Izb1

Hi Irene

Sorry for the delay. I enjoyed your account and share your feelings.

I had the family down from Lancaster. First train out was cancelled because of the strong winds I got worried but the only one left went and so we had a nice day altogether.

Yes I try to keep positive, I remind myself I am very lucky and grateful to have options.

Oh yes my room and bathroom still need finishing, I am missing the glass around the shower but they redid the floor non-slippery as I asked; well they broke the outside blind pulling it up by hand because they couldn’t be bothered to find the remote so that must be replaced.

Then when I am home I will need to order a bed. Mine was too high! I put it in the guest room.

But as Bea said I’ll probably end up on the sofa in the living-room falling asleep in front of the tv 😃

Also I can have access to the kitchen, as it is open plan and make my herbal teas, have my nebuliser and close those partition doors so Bea doesn’t hear me at the other end. She said she doesn’t. Aria comes and visits! I can hear her crunch the odd croquette!

Presently I am waiting for that hospital appointment to come through and I will be on my way.

Wishing you well xx

Fran

Hi Fran,

I love flowers so very much and your picture made me smile on this wet, cold morning. So, thank you. 😊 I can imagine a very sweet and very loving reunion with the lovely Aria 🐱🐟💓. I hope you have a pleasant journey. Take good care. xx 🌱🌿

in reply to Caspiana

Hi Cas

Oh it will be some time yet..towards the end of the month I expect. Bea is trying to get the flat finished before I get home. She has a patience I don’t have honestly sending emails to all those firms who did things wrong or didn’t do them yet. It is going to look lovely. Much more luminous as we wanted it.

Glad you liked the flowers 💐

Love,

Fran xx

Hi Shirley

I think acupuncture lasted a good 48 hours which was a relief then crept back 😃 still I felt I got more energy this week, going back on Tuesday for another session.

Yes we’ll see when the appointment comes through, Bea will scan it and email it, thank goodness for new technology 😉🌸

I had a pyjama day yesterday.🤗 It’s very good for the soul.😊 Shame France took a hammering but although I live in England I am not a fan of their rugby team so was rooting for France anyway.

We are blessed to see another day with the sun shining on us all here.

Good wishes.
