Hello Yall ,

60 yr old white male non smoker life long farm boy/truck driver ….November of 2017 gets what feels like a chest cold 3 weeks of penicillin that I had laying around... slowly gets worse and worse until a trip to the er. productive chronic cough short of breath 83% O2 saturation on admission skin color greyish blue.. patient was given multiple nebulizer treatments with ipratropium bromide and albuterol, supplemental oxygen at 4liters per hr60mg prednisone... Rx levofloxacin 750 mg 1 daily at 0900 for 7 days 20 mg prednisone 2x daily for 5 days….. that was 12/21/17 over the next 8 weeks there were 6 more trips to the ER with similar results 3 of which were ambulance rides. the er diagnosis was copd / reactive airway disease...patient was also treated for pneumonia although the imaging was clear. patient was admitted to the hospital through the ER on 5/1 with 101.8 temp. imaging indicated multilobar pneumonia, hypoxemia,.... patient was given vancomycin 1.5 grams every 12 hrs IV Zosyn 3.375 6 hrs for 5 days then amoxicillin-potassium clavulanate 875-125 twice daily for 7 days, doxycycline hyclate 100mg every 12 hrs for 7 days. 8 weeks later patient is in topeka kansas er with same senerio… 45 days later admitted to hospital through er in Denver CO... ct scan with contrast shows same thing. dr made a comment that it looked more like a shotgun blast than an infection. 5 days of IV antibiotics with a week of the high octane stuff again .. this has all been in the left lung....allergy panel was non reactive no hiv no hepatitis no mersa ..ect ect ive worked the whole time this has been going on and the hospitals cover 6 cities in 3 states...…. today im at 55% of my personal best on my meter

Its become nearly impossible to do my job and im currently taking my meds at 3 times the prescribed dose just to stay out of the ER.... my pulmonary Drs diagnosis is adult onset of level 4 Asthma..... its been 30 years since ive had so much as a runny nose until the last 13 months of hell.... any ideas ??

Sorry you are so unwell. As you are taking your meds at 3x the recomended dose that suggests to me that you are on the wrong meds as they arent working properly. Also at that level the side affects start to realy kick in and can be making your symptoms worse. I know health care in the states is different from the uk but i think you need to go back to the gp as the meds you are using clearly are not working. But your condition can deteriorate quickly without the right treatment. I hope you are on the road to recovery soon

I'm on the strongest meds available already. Epinephrine shots are the last stage and there's nothing you can do from there I started out at level four

Vancomycin is strong antibiotics. Keep us informed.

Have the farms been using new sprays ect?might of become affected by this ?
