On antibiotics… AGAIN!

After a brilliant run up until the middle of November without picking up a cold or infection, I've succumbed to three chest infections in no more than a couple of months. I'm on antibiotics again at the moment and really hope that by going beyond the course and focussing on my diet and more sleep after the Christmas excesses I can finally nip it in the bud this time.

Has anyone else been encountering similar problems? The latest infection was particularly nasty but the mucus appears to be clearing now and being able to get to the gym and do some low level cardio has definitely helped get things moving.

On a completely separate note, I'm throwing myself into work at the BLF and I'm currently looking into possible Charity of the Year partnerships. Timing is everything with these types of applications these days and getting in is tougher than ever.

One possible Charity of the Year application process that is coming up is with Deutsche Bank. To be invited to make an application we must first receive a nomination from a Deutsche Bank employee. While the nomination process doesn't start until April time I was wondering if anyone knew anyone at Deutsche Bank and could possibly put in a good word on the charity's behalf?

Bit of a long shot but well worth an ask especially as the partnership could be worth multiple £100,000s if we get through all the various rounds.

Thanks in advance for all your help and suggestions :)

I'll do my best Katinka46 though I'm rubbish at sitting still and doing nothing! Feeling so much better than even a few days ago and definitely through the worst of it all. Hope you're well and thanks for all your support as always.

Sorry your going through a rough patch Andy I hope it clears soon.

Good luck with your charity work, sorry can't be of any help but you never know 'who knows who' on the site so fingers crossed 🤞For you.

Take care Peg xxx

Thanks Peg! Think I'm coming out of the other side of it again now - hopefully this will be for an extended period this time round. No worries about the charity stuff. As you say, you never know who knows who and it may well be that somebody knows someone that does work for Deutsche Bank that can nominate us.

Sorry of your struggles with chest infections Andy. Sorry also I don’t know of anyone who works at Deutsche Bank, but I wish you every success with your project. Many thanks for all you do for us - you’re a star.

No problem cofdrop-UK it was always a long shot but you never know! Getting over the worst of my chest infection now and feeling optimistic about the year ahead. Lots to do and keen to make the most of my puffers while I can!

Deutsche Bank has a Facebook page also for employees ? Also a twitter account if that’s worth contemplating??

Hope your flare up is not a long one this time.

I dare hardly say but 🤞🤞I’ve not had one yet this winter, very unusual so I’m hoping my supplements and regular use of blocking agents are working, but January and Feb are the worse for me. Was, after last year even contemplating giving up my contract at the hospital and going on Bank to avoid working wintertime!

Wishing you WELL x

Great to hear that you're doing well Chriskho. Got everything crossed that your remain flare up free :)

I'm definitely back on the road to recovery again now - just got to hope that I can stay clear of picking up another infection for a bit as I haven't succeeded in doing that recently.

Thanks so much for your advice RE Deutsche Bank. The Facebook page and twitter accounts are definitely worth exploring.

What a great thing you do. I don't know anyone at Deutsche Bank. But I just wanted to wish you all the best and hope you feel better soon.

Sorry to hear that you've also been taken down by a similar lurgy Tinker26 Rotten luck to be ill over the Christmas period. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and the sputum culture results won't show up anything too nasty that requires more specialist attention. As you say, the joys of winter!

Thanks Izb1! My wife has got me on all the supplements possible as well as some healthy smoothies. Determined to start this year better than last when I ended up in hospital with a pneumothorax!

Will definitely look into the Facebook page with Deutsche Bank and will keep everyone informed on how I get on.

Sorry to hear that you're in a similar boat - seem to be some nasty strains doing the round that like to linger much longer than previously. Really hope the antibiotics work their magic and that you're better soon. After I finish my latest course the docs are putting me on doxycycline to give me a base line protection.

Having a very good start, thanks. No vertigo and no chest infection despite having had a cold. Am on antibiotics from November to April and think that's helped. xx Moy

Great to hear that all is going well at the moment. Are you on doxycycline? My consultant has given me a prescription to start taking that daily for a similar time span to give me some base line protection over the colder months.

Yes, exactly that - Doxycycline from November to April to ward off the winter ills! Hope it works for you too.
