Not lung related, cholesterol

Happy today everyone,

Just had my check up results at the endocrinology department and my results from 2 months ago.

Got my cholesterol down from 9 to 3.5, Dr was very pleased and said one more set of bloods and if it's still as low then I can come off the giant hard to swallow tablets πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Very happy bunny

Take care everyone

Wow that's amazing, well done you, how did you do that in only two months? I'm on 40mg statins

When I was working I ate junk constantly, I'd get home from work and just eat several packs of biscuits and cakes.

I barely touch the stuff now, mainly eat chicken and pastas and have discovered vegetables πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Only water too, no tea or coffee and just the occasional hot chocolate.

Downside seems to be I'm heavier than I've been for years but that's probably down to lack of exercise with no longer working.

Good for you, you're living proof that improving your diet works. In the BLF shop you can order a DVD of specialist exercise for lung disease. It's excellent and all of the exercises are also shown as chair exercise, a good start to get the metabolism going and building up stamina, lung health & fitness.

Unfortunately I have hereditary high bad cholesterol but the good cholesterol is also high which really helps.

I'll have to give that a look thanks, I'm trying to get out for a daily walk, motivation is my nemesis right now although those results have helped my mindset somewhat πŸ˜€πŸ˜Ž

I really struggle to get motivated too when it comes to exercise. I know I should do, and I really want to, but I can't seem to motivate myself. I don't have issues with cholesterol (as far as I know) but I do need to exercise. What have you replaced the packs of biscuits and junk food with? I am trying to eat less and eat better and not snack in the week but sometimes biscuits tempt me and I end up eating a whole pack of the things. I need to find something healthy and low fat to snack on. What are the giant pills you're taking? I'm only asking out of curiosity so you don't have to answer. It amazes me that some companies manufacture these giant pills the size of a torpedo. Do they think because we're ill we have this inbuilt ability to swallow pills that no other humans can? Anyway congratulations to you for achieving so much and thanks for sharing your uplifting news πŸ‘

I eat belvita biscuits, the soft bake ones, they're like a cake and biscuit rolled into one, they're blooming expensive but I find the pound shops sell them half the price of supermarkets.

The tablets for cholesterol are atorvastatin, hopefully I'll be off them in a couple of months.

Took myself out again for a big walk through town again today, rather walk than star jump lol, that's 3 days on the trot I've gotten out of the house and it's certainly helping with my sleeping too.

Great news keith9876, I took myself off the tabs for a number of reasons but due to opinions differing did not tell the nurse. Long story short cholesterol within normal limits she says, so the statins are working... told her the news & she was shocked.18 months later ... Sadly in Oct I had a weird episode when I called items by the wrong name for about 2 days, went for battery of tests, nothing found on brain scan (not literally) etc but they advise I take statins and aspirin. I really dont want to......

Enjoy the rest of the holiday, Scouse

For those who don't want to get entangled in statins for whatever reason, please remember my previous posts on CoQ 10; if you'd like to know more, simply do a 'search' within HealthUnlocked and you'll pull up all my previous posts; OR, you could go to my personal page and they should be listed.

Wow, well done you, that is a dramatic drop, you should be very proud of yourself. The doctor should take you off the statins straight away, there is no need to be on them now and they dont do your body any good. Keep up the walking, it is good exercise. What a great way to start the New year, have a good 2019 xx

Well done Keith. How did you manage that. Diet? I have just discover that I have cholesteral at 6.5.

keith9876 in reply to sousounette

All I did was stop eating junk like cakes, biscuits and chocolate, which to be honest was all I did eat.

I've also stopped tea and coffee and fizzy drinks, it's just plain old water and the occasional hot chocolate.

No fancy diet plan or anything else, the tablets I'm meant to take I often go weeks without taking them as swallowing them is almost impossible for me.

Just hope my next set of results match the last set then they'll be totally out of the window too lol
