Diagnosed a year, feel worse today than ever

Hi all, not had much to say Katey.

Doctors and hospitals, here there and everywhere, thought I was doing okay but felt a bit more off than usual last week, got 5 days of pred and finished them 2 days ago.

Since then I've been so short of breath and terribly tight chested, barely been able to drag my carcass out of bed.

About 20 mins ago I decided I really needed to eat something so made the journey downstairs to the kitchen, didn't get past the living room, heart was beating so fast I had to sit down, I checked my pulse and it was 150 πŸ€”πŸ€”, it's down to a steady 98 but it had me in a massive panic.

I live alone and don't really have anyone to talk to so thought a little message here always used to help my mindset.

Anyways, everyone have a great Christmas and New year 😁😁

Hi keith, I live alone to and it can be terrifying I know. Not felt great for over a month had antibiotics and steroids felt a little better but soon as they stopped same again. Dr says there is no infection so confused. Hope we are both better very soon. Diagnosed this February

I only started smoking at 18 too, but had parents who both smoked, my poor mother had it for many years before she passed.

Not had a ciggie since diagnosed and don't ever want another, nobody thought I could give up my only vice 🧐🧐

What magnesium do you take? Not wanting to hijack Keith’s post here (sorry Keith!) but I bought magnesium oxide 500mg tablets but they’re the size of suppositories and not coated and I can’t swallow them. I tried cutting them into bits but because they’re not coated they stick in my throat. Is there anything you would recommend?

robert1957 profile image
robert1957 in reply to HungryHufflepuff

magnesium citrate is what I take magnesium oxide is very poor at getting into your system if you take 500mg only about 10 mg get's into your body if you take 500mg of magnesium citrate about 200 mg will get into your system

Hi there, Don't get down that is what this site is for . I am one of the living alone members who dreads being ill too. My Granddaughter brought me a Xmas cake yesterday baked by my son. And I pop up to a freind for a chat and coffee tommorrow, its her day off from diaylisis today & tommorrow. Boxing day I will be with my family as thats their only day off work besides Christmas day with their Children. So I wish you a lovely Christmas hope you feel better and a much healthier new year. Had a massage myself this morning but the backs still painful, but thats an everyday thing especially in this cold ,damp weather. Have a look at Dons joke for the day might cheer you up xx

Decided as bad as I feel, to brave a visit to my daughter's, a little walk around the town too.

Heart is ten to the dozen but it's only going to get worse over time if I don't do these things more often.

Sat on the bus with a nice bag of chicken chunks from Morrisons to eat when I get in

Happy days 😁

Hi, Panic will cause a high heart rate. Living alone with these problems do not help. You maybe need something to calm you down,or at least lower your heart rate.. Maybe seeing a Dr with these specific symptoms would be a good idea, also may be a good idea to spend your time downstairs rather than in bed, would stop you having to climb. You probably by the sound of it eligible for a stair lift.. I moved to a bungalow as I could not cope with stairs which was not suitable for a chair lift. Take care and watch the stairs and try and watch TV, sometimes it distracts you from how you are feeling.. Happy Christmas.

Thanks for the reply, I'm normally great at getting up and downstairs, think I've just got a little bit of an infection, was getting bad over the last few days and hadn't eaten much either.

Still feeling a tad painy today but feels like I'm on the mend πŸ‘
