Hello! When I get chest pains and back pains...I try to figure out if its gas or a heart attack! My lungs only hurt when I get pneumonia! Are you swollen anywhere? Has this pain been constant or did it just start up again? If you think its your heart.......GO IN! Janet127

The pains and discomfort are still there 4 months after having pneumonia, pleurisy and pulmonary embollism. I had a biopsy on the pleural fluid 6 weeks ago which showed clear. Wonder if it is normal to have problems such as these 4 months on.

Hello and welcome. It sounds like you’ve been through a lot just recently. I don’t know if that’s normal to be feeling so bad and I don’t have any answers but I’m sure someone will reply soon enough with advice and help. Just getting over the flu or a virus can take weeks or even months so it wouldn’t be improbable that it would take several months to get over all you’ve been through. Take care of yourself. I hope things will start to improve for you soon.

You are probably right, 4 months seems a long time, maybe I should be more patient but everyday living becomes so tiring.

Hello and welcome .. whenever I have a chest infection .. cold or a pneumonia it’s constant antibiotics and steroids for weeks on end .. it takes me weeks to get over each exacerbation which I find totally exhausting. My chest and back pain never leaves me no matter how I’m feeling .. i nap whenever my body tells me to .. hugs xx

Hi greyhoundrunner333 and welcome to the site. My brother in law suffered from this years ago and had a terrible time for months after, he used a kaolin poultice and my sister used to make him an onion poultice which he said helped, check with your doctor and see if these things can help, or perhaps you need further meds. Hope you get better soon xx

Hi and welcome to the British Lung Foundation patients forum greyhoundrunner.

Commiserations, you've had more than your share!

It can take absolutely months to get over pneumonia alone so just keep going to the docs for regular check ups. At the first sign of infection you must go in. I've only had the pleurisy closely followed by pneumonia several times and that's bad enough, took months to recover and I get intermittent pain in the same pleurisy area. Pulmonary Embolism as well is a heck of a load for your body to cope with.

TLC, be good to yourself, pace yourself and do take it easy until you're fully recovered. P

I do and we have not got down to the root cause yet. It’s exausting feeling this way I feel for you. Only slight relief is moving around stretching and sleep! Hoping things will change for me soon

Sorry to hear that. I have been experiencing this too a year on from the same combination and now have another infection.

Hi. I had a bleed and pneumonia and it took me roughly 6 months to get back to normal. I do still get chest/back pains even now (2 years on) which happen to be in the same spot I had pleurisy in before the full infection started. I was surprised at how long it took but it shows how tough our bodies are to keep going with all this stuff I guess. Hope you feel better soon.
