Building work shambles πŸ˜ƒ

β€’27 Replies

Well my bedroom is looking busy, thank goodness for the couch in the living-room!

I have to keep the windows open all day, can’t stand the fumes and the dust.

I hope most of it will be done by the 21st as they close until the 7th but I won’t be able to get my furniture back in before the holidays.

Still living-room kitchen area is mostly done, just shelves they placed wrongly, and the skirting boards I want properly stuck to the wall.

But I honestly think we wouldn’t have moved back in somehow, and put up with it all, I would still be moaning next year!

I am glad we are invited out on Christmas day this year!!

Wishing well through this cold spell πŸ₯Ά

Lots of love πŸŽ„πŸ€—πŸ’•

Fran xx

It will be worth all the upheaval when its done. It's hard being unsettled over christmas but hopefully you will soon be sorted. Going out christmas day sounds like a good plan. Keep well

It does look a bit chaotic! But it will be worth it when it’s done I’m sure. Hopefully it will be finished in time before they close for the holidays 🀞 What will you do without furniture? Is the kitchen finished enough to be able to cook? πŸ₯§ Enjoy your day out on Christmas. Only one week away already πŸŽ…

in reply to HungryHufflepuff

Hi HHp,

Chaotic was an understatement! πŸ˜‚Living-room, dining-room, kitchen finished now, just waiting for the radiators to be fixed! I have received my table and chairs.

Bea’s bathroom is provisional but works. Her bedroom is done. She has a mattress on the floor!

My bedroom and bathroom won’t be done. I got used to sleeping on the sofa in front of the telly. Furniture is in storage for now.

It will be ok once we have heating everywhere!

We are actually looking forward to the weekend to have a break πŸ˜ƒ

Have a nice Christmas too xx

Well i am shocked,i saw the box marked 'douane' in the corner and a bloke surveying a pile of stuff and i thought it was a drug bust in a Marseille flat. What are they doing to your appt my happy friend?you must ask your 'yellow jackets' in France to bring a halt to this injustice and restore your sanctum immediately.Bon Noel if we don't hear from you again.

I'm not sure that "shambles" is quite the right description, "builders yard" comes closer. I do hope your sofa is a comfy one. You are lucky to be invited out for Xmas day and not spending it alone.

Good luck, Fran, looks like quite a job ahead, but maybe once all the boxes are cleared as the men leave, it won’t look so bad.

Be careful with all that dust, my friend. Be sure to get the workers you’re paying to bring in one of their strong vacuums to make a good start.

I asked my builders to be sure to remove their dust this way, due to my breathing problems. They happily dragged a powerful machine up the stairs, then I found that their dust pipe had no bag but was was set to hang out of the window, just above our back door!! Better out than in, I suppose!!

Saw the photo and thought "Poor Fran" but when I read it you sound quite upbeat and to be coping well, sleeping on the sofa. So glad you can escape to friends on Christmas Day.

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Hsppy and Healthy New Year in your lovely restyled flat.

Hello Fran, looks like things are coming together , but way behind schedule. So not going to be a nice Christmas for you, but think of all the jobs you will have to keep you busy in the new year, and you can send photos of your progress. Only remains for me to wish you a peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year.xxx

in reply to katieoxo60

Thank you Kate you are kind 😊

Actually things are looking up! Bea and I have been pestering πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Well I won’t get the bedroom and bathroom done, but I’m quite comfy on the sofa in the living-room kitchen area.

The tree 🌲 is in! We’ll decorate tomorrow.

I have booked my train tickets to London for the 3rd, Bea will have to finish things off.

Wishing you a very happy Christmas xx

Goodness, it looks like you’re having major works going on! I’m sure it’ll all be worth it in the end. I hope you have a happy Christmas.

in reply to helenlw7

Hello Helen,

Yes it was major. Dad had never got it renovated in 30 years I think. Everything was out of norms..when you think they started on August 20th and it is just a three bedroom ground floor flat!

It is getting better although I won’t have a bedroom and a bathroom for the New Year πŸ˜‰ but we managed to get the tree in the living-room..

The kitchen is lovely, all new appliances I need to learn again and againπŸ˜ƒ..and finally heating for Christmas πŸŽ„

Wishing you a very happy Christmas too xx
