Lost Opportunities. :-(

It's steak and kidney pie for tea,

I hope that pig leaves some for me.

I wish he'd go back to his hutch

Before I kick him in the crutch.

I really should have got a job

Of writing words for Rupert's gob

It's now too late but never fear.

I'll write instead for you lot here.

Nice one Don! That's the type of picture that brings back many memories, and your rhyme is lovely to hear in this over-sanitized, Nanny-state, and to Hell with the consequences! 😂

And if there's anyone out there who's 'offended', then they need to listen to this guy...

Yes, just you keep on doing your fabulous rhymes because they make so many of us smile....so that's good isn't it?

in reply to SquirrelsHolt

Yes it's brilliant and it's why I do it. It never occurred to me that some might be offended by some of my humour. 🤔

That's this guy's point Don? There are some people who need to wake up and smell the roses, and find something worth moaning about! Don't ever stop writing as you do Don, and for those miserable lot who may be 'offended' - they can go and find something else to read! We all love your rhymes! 😘😊

One of your best xx

Some tongue in cheek ones don't go down well because people miss the point. Can you imagine someone using that language writing for a children favourite character?

If you read some of the newer books, for children, out there today you'll see far worse.

Love it. I adored Rupert when I was a child but had to sneak in the annuals I borrowed from friends because my mother did not approve of his provenance. The Express. So the more the merrier, please. Shall we write a Rupert Story? You do the rhymes and I’ll do the pictures.

I'm a member of 'The Followers of Rupert Bear', followersofrupertbear.co.uk/ (My friends think I've completely lost it.) So although I take the mickey out of Rupert occasionally I don't think I want to go that far. Why not do some pictures of Granny on one of her outings and I'll try to fit rhymes? That would have more scope, she's sure to have COPD. 🙄

Is that grammatically correct? 'I'll write instead for you lot here!'

in reply to majji

Would you prefer 'Instead I'll write for you lot here' or 'I'll instead write for you lot here'? It's about rhythm not your grandma. 🧐

So that's the rhythm method is it . . . . ?

You could say that....get it wrong and you're in trouble. 😉
