Now a sinus infection, thought I'd seen the last of these..

Following my surgery in Feb this year I thought I'd be clear of these. But after catching another cold from the germ bags at work, last week dry cough and runny nose, cough getting better thank goodness. But, totally blocked up, heavy congestion no smell and little taste. So much pressure in head and eyes and my balance is suffering due to blocked ears.

Second visit to GP yesterday evening and now another week of Clarithromycin and keep using Avamys, I'm sinus rinsing everyday too. My ears apparently are clear it's the nasal blockage effecting them. I can't believe I've got this again, I had this all last Christmas too.

It's getting me down I feel awful, once again not being able to join in with any Christmas parties or pantomime (the kids have gone with a friend tonight instead as I can't take them!). My new job is awful I hate it, dont get along with the staff they haven't welcomed me and I feel totally inadequate. I'm going to resign when I return after Xmas holidays. My son was home poorly Monday and Tuesday so I had to look after him and they said I should try and get childcare! It's a joke, anyway on top of everything else I'm just a bit down to say the least and feeling very poorly but struggling on to work and take care of everyone.

It doesn’t sound like it’s a nice place to work but then again, most staff these days are threatened with Kpi’s, more work through reduced workforce and office ‘competition’ is actively encouraged by a lot of employers as they get more work per hour, regardless of the effects on staff so maybe ‘they’ve been abused themselves’, not that that makes it ok! I hope you feel much better soon, keep neti pot-ting and try some chinese white flower on sheets next to pillow at bedtime or on jimjams, (not near eyes), OR some olbas oil and take paracetomol. You WILL feel better soon 🤞

Hi Shancock .

Awful, awful for you to feel so ill. 😑 And yes, that place is not employee friendly. I worked a year at a nightmare school and know the feeling. After the contract was signed, they happened to decide that they were also having extra classes after school hours and that yes, yours truly was running them. It severely cut into my prep time, I ended up taking work home an awful lot! It was a nightmare and on top of it, that was the start of my lung disease. I completed the contract but boy do I understand why you have to get out of there!! Posh school, gutter working conditions it was. 😑 Resign dear Shancock. Believe me, it's not worth it.

Take good care.

Germ bags - brilliant expression, that's just how I feel when someone who knows I have lung problems comes near me telling me they are just "going down with something". Hard to avoid in a school. This is awful for you, Im so sorry and hope you'll be getting better asap. Good advice from northernlass. Take care :)

What a terrible time you are having, sinus infections are just the pits, and so hard to get rid of, I know as mine has lasted ten eleven months. I do hope you get well soon. Stress from the job wont help, if it gets too much get a sick note, your health is more important. Take good care x

Oh so horrid to read your post. All excited at starting a new job only to find the people totally ruin any chance of you actually enjoying your work. So difficult when you have your own children who will become unwell,as all children do....but your employer should try and adopt a different approach to you needing to take time off. Like you say,you are on meds again, feeling pretty down in the dumps and icing on the cake is a snob of an employer!! you are right to think seriously about leaving after Christmas. I do hope you start to feel better very soon.

I know I'm stating the very obvious, but I hope you've made a Doctors appt for asap? It must be so disheartening, after being in hospital, having surgery to feel like you are taking a backward step now, feeling so full of sinus and generally unwell. Christmas is such a time of huge pressure as a parent and thinking you may still be unwell, just like your last Xmas,is worrying. Explain this to your Doctor because you will be feeling over anxious about it all.
