Completed lung transplant assessment ...

Hello All,

My mother and I have just completed a lung transplant assessment with Papworth.

It was definitely jam packed with tests and they wanted to paint a realistic sobering picture of life post transplant and possible complications...

The end result is that my mother needs to have an angiogram before they can offer her a single lung transplant.

Apprantly they still need to complete more anti bodies tests and tissue typing as well but they seem positive ....

Just wanted to let you know - hope everyone is well as they can be leading to Xmas !

hello Queenbean, I pray that all is well with your mother. I don't know where you live but in new jersey where I live is a little different. I need to have a double transplant, which Im praying will come soon but the testing requirements are less complicated but she will be fine. I will keep her in prayer and you keep her in faith. Take good care of your mother, you only get one....

Dear Queenbean .

I know the doctors always paint a very bleak picture of post transplant life. All the risks involved with the high dosages of anti-rejection drugs etc. can be overwhelming. But please remember it is their job to tell you every possible thing that could go wrong. I had to think about it before committing myself to go on the list, but I figured it was a chance I had to take.

Take good care of yourself and your mum. 😊

Thanks Cas ... you are right ! It’s a case of weighing up the potential benefits I guess at the moment my mum can’t dress without help so even if you she could those few things on her own would give her the independence she wants .... we will see how the angiogram goes ... we will take it one step at a time
