Prednisolone is oft mentioned on this site of dodgy lungs,fortunately without the inflammation of some of my fellow sufferers,i don't have to consume this medicine other than when suffering an exacerbation and fully appreciate it is a double edged sword,on the one hand giving anti inflammatory benefits whilst on the other hand gifting you all with very unpleasant and life changing side effects.
So i apologise to all you long term sufferers but on seeing this picture i immediately thought of you.and at least you can have a chuckle in the fracture clinic.

Hah "fat cheeks" like hamsters. I used to call a woman Fat Cheeks who was with Rita during a brief period of negotiated non-monogamy (well it was the 80s). It made me feel better when I felt jealous.
Hmmm, we both found it impossible and returned fairly rapidly to monogamy, so 30 years later, here we still are. Rita left her Yorkshire mining village back in the day to get away from the green spat out gunk on the pavements and ended up down south with me. Lucky I didnt have copd when we met
I don't think lucky will ever be my middle name and unfortunately my quality of life can not be improved by the magic pills but i do have sympathy for those who have to take them on a long term basis.
I was going to say they maybe should have inserted a squirrel on steroids into your lungs to act as a kind of bellows instead of the valves, but I thought that might come across as rude and insensitive, so I thought I’d better not say that. 🐿
Not at all rude or insensitive HH.i will enquire of my consultant next week if i may have tree rats inserted in the other lung and use your logic as to the merit of this new procedure, xx
Maybe I’ll just feed the peanuts to the squirrel because my teeth are all crumbling away and I can’t eat nuts anymore. Ooh maybe I could develop a dental squirrel too, insert squirrels into the mouth and let them do the chewing.
Hi there dear HH I'm noticing that "squirrel s" are coming into your conversations and I've got to say,I'm rather alarmed!(lol). Yes I'm on the devil pills,but the thought of being inserted in our friend skischool 's lungs doesn't sound very appealing for either parties. Then you say for dental reasons, a dental squirrel could be also inserted,so as to do the chewing! My squirrel friends are all throwing their collected winter nuts over the fences in total dismay!!! Take care when walking by any fencing of hedging for flying objects!!!!
I hadn’t actually considered inserting your good self into the mouth of Skis or indeed Scruffs. But now that you mention it ... I am joking of course, I will limit my animal exploitation to your fluffy cousins 🌰🐿
Ha! The squirrels round here are burying nuts busily in our small lawn....presume they’ll be back to retrieve later. What a mess! Maybe I’ll start feeding them, like Skis?? Or maybe HH can find another use for them?!
Where are we going with this conversation?? Skis mentioned tree rats...ugh!!....my brother-in-law calls the lovely creatures that! Reminds me of I’m a celebrity....I have to catch up occasionally so that I can understand the chat amongst the younger members of the family...😂🤣

They are,as you rightly said,"a double edged sword"....not so much as no pain,no gain but more "im in pain so no I've no choice but to take them again,lol!!
Hope you are doing well with your new "bling".... its certainly not had a detrimental effect on your wonderful sense of humour.
Squirrels,thankfully my sense of humour needs no medication,i wish i could say that the new 'bling' has changed my life but no magic results as yet but thank you for enquiring. i hope you at least enjoy a revitalised appetite and the occasional vivid dream on those magic pills. xx
Oh my! I really had everything crossed that you'd come back and say.... "Yes,its bling king brilliant" but in the real world all we can do is have hope,isn't it? Who knows,once the cold weather has gone and you are a few more weeks down the line,that you will notice some improvement. I'm not too up-to-date with the %'s on patients undergoing RVLS(may have that the wrong way around),noticing any improvement within say 3/4 months? I for one take little notice of these so called %'s after all we are all so individual on how our bodies respond to things. However,it is a tad disappointing for you,but as I say,it could all change for the better....give it time my friend.
I have had IPF for several years and would like to know what the benefit of a steroid like Prendisone is. I,am aware is has the potential to cause unpleasant side effects. My specialist has talked about me going on it but so far I have resisted. Does the benefit outway the downside??
Well you would go for the 18carat ones instead of stainless steel. 🙄
Love it! I’m one of those unfortunate people who’ve suffered at the hand of Prednisolone, but on the plus side I can breathe and it helps reduce the pain in my joints. Unfortunately I’m destined to take Prednisolone for life because my adrenal gland has stopped working due to long term use of pred. Looking back over the past fourteen years I would probably still have taken them because they have improved my life tremendously!
