The damaged lungs we carry
Are like weights upon our back.
It feels just like this cough we have
We'll always have to hack.
The phlegm we have to get out
Seems like a constant flow.
Something we have to deal with
No matter where we go.
But still there's lots of good things,
That we can still enjoy.
And here we share the methods,
Which each of us employ.
Though each of us is different,
The numbers here are such.
That there's always someone similar
Offering a hand to clutch.
Makes you think theres ALWAYS Somebody worse than yourself 😉 x
Never thought of it like that ... Theres someone that will help you .. I never ask as i havent told many people my condition ... i tend to stay in doors as much as i can .. silly me 😕
Knowing someone understands how hard it is to cope with our various lung diseases is a comfort and when it’s done with kindness and humour it really helps 😊

What a wonderful picture your poem has conjured up in my head. Beautiful, so caring, and loving. Makes me a bit tearful. Off for lung function tests again on Monday. Not sure what they will show. I am better able to cope with my illness, but whether the actual function has improved or deteriorated I will have to wait and see.

I'm not a poet, Moy, just a rhymer and that comes from a love of music mixed with a love of words. I've O2Trees to thank for pointing out to me the potential. A real poet would tear my effects to shreds on a number of grounds.

Wow, don't remember this Don though I do remember reading you putting yourself down as a poet and thinking 'that's not right'. So glad if I helped. We all love your poems - I always read them out to Rita (partner) who reacts between a chuckle and a belly laugh. Though sometimes you do a really poignant one and I love those too. Keep on writing 
Edit: Just been thinking about this and much of the magic of your writing is that they are both funny and poignant at the same time. And that's very special.
lovely poem- whenever I am on this site I know there are always people worse than me and it helps me to put things into perspective even though I might feel awful.
