Good-bye caravan, Hello Aygo.

β€’41 Replies

I bought a little car last week

To get me round the town.

I'd looked at oh so many

It began to wear me down.

At last I finally decided

On one I thought quite rare.

Until I drove about in it,

There's thousands of 'em there.

It's strange that on your travels

You don't notice things at all.

Until you go and buy one.

And then over them you fall.

It shows that it is popular

Much better than a bike.

And seeing lots of folk agree

Shows that great minds think alike. πŸ˜‰

Good for you Don. Midge will feel like royalty in the front seat . Jane

I think she will still prefer the campervan where she is a lot higher up to see out of the window better. 😎

I have one. Bought at Easter, a rather jazzy grey with a red roof and trim my first auto. Great little car. Love it. Enjoy. X

in reply to Gigi71

Thanks. It caught my eye right from the start. My first two door which makes it a doddle getting in and out with my dodgy knees. Yours sounds neat. Mine is the basic model, I had to choose between want and need.

All sounds good, mine is my first 4 door for years and saves getting out when I give friends lifts. I'm only little and sometimes struggle with much higher cars. Seems we both have cars that suit us. So good on petrol too, a real bonus. X

in reply to Gigi71

I find it very nippy, I've had diesels for the last 20 years. I'll be using the campervan for long journeys, but the parking ability of the Aygo, with it's short length and brilliant turning circle, will make a big difference in town.

That’s so cute. Love the colour. Enjoy!

Super looking car and I bet its a great drive. Does Midge have the front passenger seat?

in reply to SquirrelsHolt

Of course! Who else? πŸ˜‚

Happy motoring Don. What you say is true, we bought a Citroen C3 Picasso, never saw any when we had a Corsa, now the Picasso seems seem so common.

Lovely Red Car Don. Well Done. I got my New Car in August, it is also Red with Silver/Grey Trims, A Renault Captur, We thought we were the only Ones local, Drove the first Day, there were lots of "Captur's" none Red & Silver Though. Called her " Feliz" Happy in Spanish....Enjoy your Freedom and Comfort of your Beauty...and of Course Midge will Love Her, My Princess Loves going out in it, I'm sure she gives a Royal Wave from the Back Seat......Found a Name yet Don ? Love n Hugs XXXX

in reply to Hacienda

I tend not to give my cars names other than their proper name, she'll just be Aygo. She's a 2016 reg. with 5,000 on the clock, previous owned by an elderly gent. I think she likes older men, she certainly gave me the 'glad eye' when I saw her sitting there. πŸ˜‰

Cracking new motor Master Po,reviews say that it is "Distinctive, sophisticated and eye-catching" just like you then! :)

Ski's.Scruffs and with a not so Smart car xx

in reply to skischool

Thank you for those kind words, Grasshopper. You don't hear the word 'smarmy' used much these days do you, I wonder why that is. πŸ€”πŸ˜‚

A one litre, 3 cylinder engine with a frugal 68 mpg. A rather cool city car I have to say.

in reply to 2greys

I never thought I would ever drive any distance in a car with only three cylinders firing. 😱

Snazzy looking car there. You be careful on them there roads. You will be able to get used to driving Aygo before the real cold freezing winter comes (no doubt we will get some next year).

in reply to WheezyAnne

I will, I will. Thank you.πŸ˜€πŸš—

Perfect. I am envious. Mine is really, really boring. Black... again. It came with an offer that I couldn’t refuse. But black.... Doh...And I wanted a red one...

That is sad. You could get a full respray for around Β£1,000. One of the cars I was interested in was pink! I don't usually care what colour a good car is, but I drew the line at pink. Imagine someone shouting "Whose is the pink car outside"? I would have to deny all knowledge of it!! πŸ™„

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pink car 😁

I don't think anyone takes them out - in daylight...? πŸ˜‰

Such a cute ride, Don. Midge will enjoy looking out the windows, and being looked back at, cause she's so cute, too!

Have fun....be careful and stay well,

Cuddles and treats to Midge!!

A cracking little motor, but just like buses - you don't see any, then they all turn up at once? πŸ˜‚πŸ‘

Lovely little car...so cuteπŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€. Enjoy your travels in it.

Snazzy little motor Don, great for getting about, glad you have kept the campervan, that would be hard to part with. X

I too am glad Don kept the campervan. When I first read the title of this post I thought he’d sold it and my heart sank. I travel vicariously through Don’s posts and photos of Midge admiring the views.

Me too, it always seems a part of him x

in reply to Izb1

I don't think I'll ever sell my campervan, even if it only sits in my driveway for the rest of it's life. I just find it difficult to find parking spaces these days. It fits in a standard parking space but my parking skills are not what they were. ☹

in reply to

I forgot to add that my travelling days in it are far from over and cold frosty weather has never stopped me. In fact it's very cosy in those conditions.

Izb1 profile image
Izb1 in reply to

Good job Im not driving it, cant park in an empty space ha! Mind you its more than fifteen years since I was behind a wheel, dont blame you for picking this car, bet its great to nip around in.

in reply to Izb1

It is great for nipping around in (and parking), but I don't think I'd like to do 2 or 3 hundred miles or more a day in it as I often did in my camper. It's not designed for that type of motoring.πŸš—
