Chicken Pox

Hi, I have emphysema and practically no immune system , I am going to the pictures tomorrow with a friend who was looking after her grandson the last couple of days and yesterday she phoned to say the little fella has chicken pox and overnight had come out with loads of spots. Do you think I am in any danger of catching anything ?

Yes if you have never had it and shingles if you have.

Ok thank you I did have chicken pox when I was little , did not have any problems when my own children had it.

Of course, only if he is with you or has infected her. Probably not too much of a risk if just you and your friend and she has had chicken pox.

I personally wouldent risk it chickenpox and shingles are quite serious illness.

Well my friend has just phoned to say she has been in bed all day , not well so that solves that problem , thanks for all replies

Yes maybe don't go until she is free of possible infecting you. All buddies must be very careful.

Hi there. I had chicken pox twice and two weeks ago after thinking I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic I was told I had mild shingles even tho I had the vaccination a few months ago.

I would urge you to stay well away from anyone connected with someone in contact with chicken pox for the simple reason that some people can be carriers of an illness without ever getting it themselves. I don’t know if that applies to chicken pox but it is simply not worth the risk.

Perhaps you can go the movies at a later date.

Your health comes before anything else.

you can get cp more than once and it is a danger if you take azathroprozine cus it blocks the cp virus from antivirels

First has your friend or you had chickenpox before. If she has she is only likely to get shingles- this is not an airborne virus abd can only be caugjt by directly touching the unscabbed spots. If she gets shingles unless you touch you will not get it. Personally I would go to the pictures x

You can have chickenpox more than once and shingles is a risk

Yes!! Keep away, as an adult you could get Shingles which is quite serious and not a very nice thing to have. Explain to your friend, I'm sure She'll understand.
