It depends which God you pray to. Some Gods don't take any notice. Others can be very fussy about the natural herbs. Never try unnatural herbs though.

Thank you and I won’t ❤️

Hi, i am a reiki master and practise self healing. I believe in a positive mental attutude and ' can do' works for me. I only take medication where absolutely needed but do follow advise on self improvement, ie excercise, eating healthy and stopping smoking. I was diagnosed severe in july, and gave the cigs up, other than that not taking any meds, and thankfully not experiencing any symptoms, go to work and living my life as normal x

That’s great I was thinking of trying black seed oil I stopped smoking about 4 moths ago I have been told I have asthma by er dr bronchitis by my primary dr and COPD by another er dr so I really have no clue what’s going on but I am preparing myself for whatevs my results are and has anyone tried the ginger and turmeric for inflammation

in reply to Dwanna1129

I havn't tried anything other than vit d3, but wouldn't rule anything natural out. Luckily so far not needed to, i am also an holistic therapist so would try aromatherapy and natural products first x

Dwanna1129 in reply to

Thank u so much for responding I feel so nervous and scared sometimes not knowing if you don’t mind me asking how much but d3 do u take a day

in reply to Dwanna1129

Hi hun, that is a natural response to being told something unexpected and at first i felt the same, then thought of all the positives....if i hadn't been diagnosed i would still be smoking and causing more damage to my lungs, it also gave me the kick up the backside i needed regarding excercise, normally drove everywhere, so have started swimming and even taken up ice skating again, r forgotton how much fun it is. I am 56 and plan on being around for a long time yet.

Have you had a spiro test yet? And if so what where your results? X

Dwanna1129 profile image
Dwanna1129 in reply to

No I am scheduled for a PFT test on Monday and that’s great u give me so much HOPE THANK U for the positive outlook and the information yea I am only 39 n have 5 kids I started googling and it scared me so much if u don’t mind if I have any concerns or questions will I be able to message you? If not I understand completely

in reply to Dwanna1129

Yes of course xx

in reply to

Oh...re vit d3, 4000ug daily x

in reply to

Please don't believe everything you read on Dr. Google, it is scary....wait until you get a diagnoses and take it from there....i have been offered pulmonary rehab which i will be starting next year, and its educational about the disease and how it progresses and also shows you breathing excercises etc, so would be worthwhile attending.

If anything, i didnt feel ill when i was diagnose, but do feel better and fitter since, as i have quit the cigs and have a bit more stamina. I have not been offered any meds from the doctor and am fine, but obviously if i was put on inhalers etc i would take them.

You are only 39 which is very young and you many not have copd or it may be in the mild stage, which can be contolled and halted with the correct lifestill xxx

I have used and abused my body over the years, but i have had a lot of fun along the way so not going to beat myself up, but now readjusting my life style now x

Hi Thomsk, ooohh the thought of drinking garlic honey!!! yuk, although I do love garlic and eat in most days, via my cooking, I am a great lover of garlic and spices and make most of my food from scratch, however I loath honey. Garlic as you say is a natural antibiotic, and I use it fused in olive oil for many different things. I think a lot of people get ill now, due to too much processed food, preservatives etc to give a greater shelf life, and it is all about profit in the food chain, years ago people ate naturally more fresh food produced straight from the farms without all the chemical additives used today, and now that charge you more for organic food, it is a joke. There are a lot of natural remedies with herbs etc. that have been used for centuries across the world in every continent, but the pharmaceutical companies and the government via taxes want to make a quick and easy buck and push us down a different route of making a profit to the detriment of our health......rant over lol x

Garlic and honey is a Spanish specialty according to my friend who lived there most of her life. She brought me back a jar once. They’re like whole cloves of garlic marinaded in honey. The weird thing is, the raw cloves don’t taste at all strong, all the flavour has seeped out into the honey which is incredibly strong! Garlic has incredible healing and antibiotic properties. I eat at least 3 whole garlics a week, but oven baked, so they’re not strong.

Ginger and turmeric also are very good. I try to eat and drink a range of healing and healthful things. All these things are reputed to have beneficial properties and many taste good too so I enjoy them. Unfortunately I enjoy doughnut and chocolate and pizza too much and I’m pretty sure they don’t have any health benefits 😁

Occasionally I go for an Ayurvedic massage. The therapist is from Kerala in S. India and she told me they use fresh ginger and turmeric powder to reduce inflammation. I do not have COPD but my husband has severe Emphysema. She suggested it might help my osteoarthritis. I do use both in cooking but only when making Indian food but I'm going to use it more regularly from now on. I'm also teaching myself meditation using the Headspace app and it's helping a lot.

Take care

Did your Reiki guide balance your chakras? I love to give and receive Reiki, it is so calming....I also work with crystals which are also great in clearing blockages and work with the bodies vibrations and energy. Hi hypercat, i believe in a positive mental attitude and the power of the mind is a wonderful thing. I don't think anyone is denying that the doctors and medicine do a marvellous job, and most of the time people get ill due to their own life choices, me included...but hey we are human....but i do believe in a creator of the universe, not necessarily god of the bible or other religions.

hypercat54 profile image
hypercat54 in reply to

I am pleased you have your beliefs and I am sure they are a great comfort to you. The only thing I object to with some religious folk (this is currently what made me leave another site) is when they try and 'push' their own religion onto others. When they bible bash or preach and quote bible verses or try and include me in their belief system. x

in reply to hypercat54

Hi Hypercat, I don't believe anyone on this post is trying to push their religion on anyone else but are just stating their personal beliefs or experiences. But I am a bit confused? If religion bothers you, why would you read or comment on a post that is obviously asking a question about God and may offend you??

Trusting in God doesn’t mean we shouldn’t also trust in doctors and medicine. There’s a story: there’s a big storm and the rains flood a man’s house, so he has to climb on the roof. There, he prays to God to save him. Just then someone comes by in a row boat and shouts up to the man, jump in my boat and I’ll row you to safety. The man shouts back, no, God will save me. So he stays on the roof. A while later an amphibious truck drives by and the driver shouts up, jump down and I’ll drive you to safety, but the man shouts back, no, God will save me. And he stays on the roof. A while later a helicopter flies over and the pilot shouts down, climb up and I’ll fly you to safety but the man shouts up, no, God will save me. And he stays on the roof. But the water keeps rising and the man doesn’t make it and then he sees God. He shouts at God and says, God, I trusted in you but you let me drown! But God replies, I sent you a boat and a truck and a helicopter. What more did you want? 👼

I trust in God and I know he saved my life but I also believe in the doctors and medicine they give me. But that’s just what I believe and we all think differently and I’m not meaning to be ‘lecturing’.

Love your reply, I believe God saved my life back on Feb 5th 2007, I had been bad all w/end with an exacerbation, Lilian had been up most of the Sunday night watching me like a hawk, she called for an ambulance which arrived at 05:00 on the Monday morning, as she went out to meet it I attempted to step out of our Narrowboat. The ambulance crew found me passed out and suffering from a respiratory arrest. I was kept alive by the the crew, the staff in Coventry Hostpital resuscitation, and by the team in critical care for 4 days. But ultimately by the the timely intervention of God.

Take care.

Yes I believe in the power of prayer as I broke my leg many years ago and prayed to God out father for healing and was healed fast then the doctors had said it would take. Do pray that I am healed from brittle asthma type 1, yes every day. I know that he is the king of kings and the Lord Of lords. In his name may we be both be healed. As for the natural stuff I tryed most of it but I think God is the best doctor.

I pray with my God every day. Don't bother with anything that the Dr didn't prescribe

G'day Dwanna..I am sorry I do not what your illness is , but, by your header I assume you do believe in GOD. So I guess my answer is, if you are a believer, trust in him, rely on the medical team, caring for you, take the meds they prescribe, but please do not take anything else unless you first discuss it with them.

I am coming from a four year journey, my wife was diagnosed in 2014 with IPF.

When things were really getting grim I asked HIM, if my wife would get lungs.

That night I awoke at 1.30am..."Yes she will get lungs and the surgery will last 7 hours"

6 weeks later Susan received "the gift of life" a bilateral Tx..(15/07/2016) the surgery lasted 5 1/4 hours, but the surgeon nicked her pulmonary vein, causing my wife to stay in the theatre another 1 3/4 hours = 7 hours ?? Concidence!! No.

Sadly I lost her in March this year due to chronic rejection....

Please keep your faith in HIM only.and trust the medical team...there are 2 most important things you must do if you have lung disorders

1. Get yourself into a pulmonary rehab exercise group, but ensure it is run by a qualified pulmonary rehab physiotherapist

2. Maintain a healthy diet.

I wish you well on your journey

I have documented our journey from start to end, in the hope that there may be something we experienced that could possibly help someone else (Paying it forward)

GOD Bless

On the planet , there is a herb to treat most human conditions, used for centuries as medicines : I use both medicines and herbal remedies, checking carefully the herbal stuff doesn’t contradict the pharmaceutical medicines supplied : every little helps, as the advert says lol . As for praying : of course it does, praying is a way of setting your positive intent , who you believe is listening to you is personal, and important to you, the power of prayer and positive thoughts can have wonderful outcomes ........ the key factor is to listen and watch for the answer, of how to help ourselves, how to make improvements however small, and learn to act on things that help and stop doing the things that are making our health worse, and being able to discern and use advice that helps. We are all so very individual, do what helps you ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I go to church but I have always found that praying for myself never works but for others does. I was diagnosed severe 8 years ago. i follow all advise from professional people. Exercise and healthy eating are the best prayers. I walk and kayak on a regular basis. It can be frightening at first but positive attitude is always the best good luck

If I trust in God I worry less. That must be a good thing. If I pray for strength to cope and feel like I receive it, that must be a good thing. If I follow Him like he asks and follow scriptures such as, "do not be anxious" and the theory that worrying will not add anything to my life , that must be a good thing.

I also take various supplements.

My illness has given me empathy and compassion for others suffering and an appreciating of all the things I can do. It has taught my family not to take life for granted and to consider others. Another good thing!

Good luck.

Hi Dwanna1129 .

Hmmm... I've never prayed for healing as such. I suppose somewhere inside me I have this notion (misguided or not) that my illness is for a reason. I have asked for patience to endure some of it's rigours though😒.

Weirdly perhaps, I have never felt inclined to pray or wish it away. I sometimes hope that if I take the brunt of all this illness, it will skip my children and their children's generation.

But I have prayed. Despite the fact I don't believe in organised religion. I think it's wonderful for people to have faith. And faith comes in many forms, not just the conventional.

Take good care and enjoy your weekend!! 💕👍

I use raw ginger root, one teaspoon chopped up and swallowed with a small amount of milk or water every other morning morning. At lunch time every other day i have one quarter or one third of a teaspoon of turmeric powder (supermarket spice) mixed with half inch of milk , teaspoon of olive oil and 3 shakes of black pepper because you the pepper and oil so it gets absorbed and drink it straight back. Every other night i have one clove of garlic raw chopped up and swallow it like a few tablets because i can't stand the taste but do this on an empty stomach before bed and again drink with a small amount of fat, olive oil and milk so it aids absorption. As for the turmeric did not think it had to be cooked so long as it was taken before or after meal with some type of oil or fat . However i did find when i first started taking turmeric i was using nearer to a heaped teaspoon of it each day and found that i was waking up with nose bleeds at least 2 to 3 times a week after cutting down to the size of 1or 2 headache tablet 500mg this cleared up . For the record the only other meds i am on is symbicort and spiriva. please check with doctors as i did because all 3 are very good blood thinners and anti-inflammatory also can lower your BP so if other med are affected don't use till advice is taken.

I will make no comments about prayer. If it brings you comfort then why not. A number of people use various herbs and spices and report it helps them. Again if you feel it helps why not. Firstly I am C/E, not that it matters, Do not go to Church, Though I pray for The Cruel fate of Children Dying, I say " Why did God Allow that to happen" We are all Drawn in to some form of religion. recently I went to 2 funerals where No God was mentioned, The services felt cold, I missed That inner glow. I would want him or Jesus mentioned at mine. Yes, I have said " God, what have I done Wrong to Deserve this" I think most of us have said this at sometime during our bad times of Illness. I have been to the "Light" when many years ago I was driving from my Home on the Motorway, as I had done thousands of times, I Crashed badly on the way, thought I had Died, my whole life flashed before my eyes in a nano second, it was when I pushed the car Door open as the smoke was pluming from the engine and I had somersaulted the car into a Ditch, I knew I was still Alive when I could release the Seat Belt and rolled into the Ditch, There were so many people lifting me out, Doctors from Madrid going on their Summer holiday, Guardia Civil tracing my phone to contact family, so much help by unselfish strangers, They were all my Heroes. Did GOD help? I did see an Angel who had stood in front of the car as it careered, she was warning me or was she? Her name was Corona a Dear family Member, It was she I put my trust in and all the Kind People who helped......... Many wars have been fought over Religion. Could God Stop these Atrocities? We have to Believe in each other and Help all mankind and our animals. Especially our Children, They are our Children of the Future... It is a Vicious Circle. Sorry to go on...I still don't have a Valid Answer. just to say Love to you all and Control your Illnesses with Meds, positivity, and Trust. xxxxxxx

Hi I don't believe that we are 'all' drawn to some form of religion. My attitude is it is another crutch similar to alcohol, smoking, and so on. If it comforts you and does no harm to yourself or others then it is fine.

Personally I see far too many aspects of religion I dislike such as sexism, homophobia, dogmatism etc, and I could never believe in such values.

Religion has always been used to keep others in their place too which I am totally against. Marx knew what he was talking about when he called it 'the opium of the people'. x

That’s such a moving story. Some years ago, I was rushed to the hospital, I was expected to die. My parents flew in to be there but I was already in a coma. I was in a world where everything was blue. The mountains and ground and trees and sky, everything was the same blue. It was actually very beautiful. Since then, I’ve been a bit obsessed with finding the same shade of blue but had never quite found it. A long time after that, I was walking along a forest track where I used to live (in a non-English speaking country) I found a tiny blue pencil at the side of the track, about 4mm wide and 5cm long. Really tiny. On one side it says Blue is starry sky and has a picture of a shooting star. It draws in exactly the same shade of blue as my blue world. I know it’s totally illogical but I thought it had been put there by an angel. Anyway I’m glad we’re both still here to tell our tales.

I am currently undergoing a mindfulness course for pain. The theory is that relieving the stress of pain (or any other stress for that matter) helps the body to cope better and function more efficiently. Mindfulness meditation is in many ways similar to praying in that you are trying to focus away from the problem and create a positive mental attitude. A hypnotist I used was also keen on the idea of using the placebo effect to produce positive results; there is certainly evidence to suggest that people with positive mental attitudes are generally healthier, although their innate health might result in their better attitude! Don't know whether it will work in my case, but time will tell. However, it is important to note that these techniques do not claim to cure anything, only to help you cope better with what you already have by keeping you otherwise healthy and relaxed.

On the issue of herbs, these are just plants which are a form of food anyway, and there is plenty of evidence that some foods are better or worse for certain conditions. So a little research will tell you what to eat or drink to improve your symptoms, but don't expect some miracle cure!

Schmicter profile image

Prayer and supplements do make some people feel better, whether that is due to a placebo effect or because some powerful/holy entity changed your physical being and cured you because you asked....who knows. There is no scientific evidence. And in the history of mankind it doesn't seem to happen very often, when you consider how many people probably pray for healing. Leaves one to believe it is probably just a chance effect.

But, what difference does it really make. It is very simple. If it makes you feel better than...it makes you feel better, that is a good thing...that is an effect. So, by all means pray and eat good stuff.

A genetic scientist becomes world famous for his work, so famous in fact that even God hears about him and decides to pay a visit.

The scientist is working in his laboratory and turns around to find an old man facing him. Who are you? says the scientist. I am the Lord God says the old man, I have heard about your great works and wondered if you wanted to have a contest to see who is the best creator.

The scientist is very proud and says to God, if you're not offended by my work I certainly would like to take up your challenge.

Offended? not at all says God… I love to see people using their talents and I love a good contest too, so here's what I propose… I say we both create a man from scratch. You use your stuff, all your knowledge and all your scientific gear and I'll use all my stuff… whoever creates the best man wins… OK?

Great says the scientist, lets do it!

With that God walks out of the laboratory into the gardens and starts to kick up a pile of dirt from the ground and collect it in the palm of his hand.

The scientist is a bit lost for how to start and so follows God out into the grounds, he too begins to kick up the dirt and collect it into a pile. All of a sudden he feels a tap on his shoulder and turns to find God standing over him.

What's up? he asks…

Use your own dirt says God!
