Hi just wondering if any one has hired the portable oxygen to take on holiday

Is it worth hiring or buying your own

It's a bit of a minefield any help would be gratefully received

Thanks

Hi

Depending on requirements self purchase cost in the region of £2000 plus,

For flying you need sufficient battery power for one and half times the journey, battery’s are typically £250 plus each.

Hire charges including sufficient battery power typically £200/£300 pounds per week.

One to speak to is. For hire or self purchase

For self purchase only.

To consider, check with airline for permitted battery size, some will not allow the double cell battery, only the single cell

Contact 02 oxygen supply or the BLF

Most airlines only allow battery operated Concentrators

The Imogen 1 16 cell Concentrator would give you 6 hours at 2 ltr s

You can hire an extra battery for them

We went on holiday in Sept first time flying for 9 years

The Concentrator and battery cost us £400 for a 10 day holiday they deliver it a couple of days before you go away and collect he day after you come home .

Good luck

You will also need medical insurance this is a major obstacle because has soon has you mention oxygen some won’t take you on

You also need a fit to fly letter from a specialist and have a flight test done to make sure you are fit to fly

It’s worth it in the end

One thing the medical insurance is expensive so when the quote you ask then for a multi cover we was quoted £1200 for a 10 day holiday and got a quote from them for Multi travel 12 month cover for £1500 so we are planning on at least two holidays but want to do 3 in the 12 months .

Good luck

Hi, We were going abroad to Spain and were going to hire a portable one for the plane and also one for the use in the hotel... the costs for the 10 days worked out at around £800... plus extra batteries costs.

In the meantime I read about hiring the oxygen in Spain through their Health system, which I eventually did, was brilliant and easy....everything there when we got to the hotel, and it was all FREE.

The oxygen for the flight we travelled with Ryanair, we booked and paid for it was at a cost of £110.00 for the return journey.

You need all the correct paperwork to do it but once you've emailed or faxed it over that was it, all done and dusted.

With hubby in a wheelchair and a suitcase I was dreading having to take the portable oxygen and also the generator on wheels, I just couldn't have managed it all.

I hope this helps.

I bought an Imogen portable concentrator. Using bottles restricts how far from base you can go.

It has opened up my horizons no end.
