I bought some Bramwells Manuka Honey at Aldi and see it has "Multifloral" on the label. Does this mean it is not the genuine article as it is not all Manuka?

Sounds as if it has a small percentage of Manuka honey, cut with other honeys to bulk it up. True Manuka honey is very expensive, and the amount of honey sold as Manuka far exceeds the amount of Manuka honey actually produced.

Hi Normgean... I have read great things about Manuka Honey, but have not purchased it as I am aware that not all Manuka Honey is 'equal!" And, I don't know enough to make a good decision. I will share a recent experience with local raw honey. I developed a sinus infection and a very sore throat, was prescribed Azithromycin and a cough syrup that had an anti drainage ingredient that would help the sore throat. The syrup also had an ingredient that previously had caused my BPM to increase uncomfortably. I googled home remedies for sore throat, and found honey was recommended for throat soreness. One tablespoonful of honey and it was like a miracle, took away the soreness. May not work for everyone, but it did it for me. Jan

Hi

10,000 tons are sold worldwide, 1,800 in the U.K. Which is strange as only 1,700 tons is produced.

Hi Stone-UK, Is the 1700 lbs all inclusive, Manuka and local raw honey. I get my local at Fresh Thyme Mkt.. Stone, I'm not familiar with England's insurance/medical care. Listening to NPR a couple of days ago I heard a Britisher who is a radio personality there, Last name Snow, speak of your insurance as Gov't financed and cradle to grave? Comparing it to ours, he sounded as if he believes your's is superior. Just curious how someone who is an actual participant views gov't run medical care? How does belonging to EU impact it? Do nations who belong to the EU retain autonomy in issues such as medical care? Jan

On a re-read, I now understand your comment....A thousand pounds more is sold in the U.K. than is produced. Interesting....

I am from New Zealand. Many years ago I cured my wife of Helicabacta. With Comvic Manuka honey, 25+ UMF. That equates to 840 Gm. Your honey Multyfloral is NOT pure Manuka. It has mixed floral flower areas.

Comvica Honey is the best but they have come down in their health counts on UMF. IT IS VERY HARD TO FIND +25 which is the best. It has become very expensive due to the exports, they cannot keep up with. A lot of other supplyers have started to label their Manuka honey in GM and label it +10 - 15 - 20 and people take it as the same as Comvita +20.

I got very annoyed at this because I considered it a scam by other distributors selling it cheaper.

You can buy it direct from Comvita in NZ they will send it direct to you.

Good luck getting the real thing.Finding an honest company that sells it is the hard part. You can have it tested too see if it's the real McCoy.
