Hi all. Posted some time ago to ask about lavage and now have an appointment in 5 days time for this procedure. Anyone else here had this done when suffering with substernal goitre? I'm thinking there may be a deviation in my thorax from this flipping goitre, so would that make a difference to the ease of this bronchial procedure?
Also wondering whether thoracic consultant would be aware in advance? I'd be glad of any help here. I prefer to be prepared. Thanks.

Usually in a referral letter, the medic referring would explain any factors that contribute to the problem or interfere with the procedure, so the thoracic consultant should be aware. That shouldn't stop you reminding the consultant of your conditions. All the best for the bronchoscopy and lavage.
I had a lavage in February at RBH. There wasn't a problem with it and I've since gone on to have full LVRS ( oct.8th) I'm in recovery as we speak .The only thing I remember about the lavage was coughing.
