Chlamydia Pneumoniae Treatment

Hi everyone. I'm desperate for someone to help me. I have been very sick for 2 years, and during all that time, no doctor has ever been able to find what was wrong with me.

I have finally been diagnosed with Chlamydia Pneumoniae, and I'm a bit scared of what I've read online when it come to success rate as far as treatment is concerned.

I have an appointment with my GP in 3 days, and I don't know yet what antibiotic he is going to prescribe to me.

After 2 years of trying **everything** - in vain - to cure myself from that my "mysterious illness", I feel like I am condemned to be sick my whole life and that I might as well commit suicide now and be done with all the pain and suffering.

Other people on here who have dealt with Chlamydia Pneumoniae, what was your treatment like? What antibiotic were you prescribed? Did you get cured? How long did your treatment last?

Thank you.

A desperate 30-something woman.

Chlamydia PNEUMONIAE *IS* a lung disease. I'm not talking about chlamydia trachomatis.

At the Introduction it actually States on " Related Tags" that it is a Sexually Transmitted Disease" So, This should be Presented more Clearly for People like myself who have never heard of "PNEUMONIAE" . Sorry to have misinterprerted .

No problem. No need to apologise. I don't understand either why they put a "sexual disease" tag.

It’s a very common bacteria in lung infections and is treated with macrolide antibiotics such as azithromycin, also a broad spectrum one such as doxycyclin and sometimes ciproxen which is a different type of antibiotic. Sometimes they give two antibiotics together. Now that you know what you have you can get it treated. Make sure that your doctor has done his research on the treatment, better still that you have a specialist to look after you.

I’m glad that it helped to bring your anxiety down a bit. It can be very scary when the medics throw names at you but fail to tell you that it is pretty run of the mill stuff. There are quite a few of us on here who live with a bug called pseudomonas auroginosa which colonises damaged lungs. We take various abs either orally, nebulised or when it runs amok, by IV and we carry on living normal lives and giving it plenty. Hopefully with the right treatment you may be able to get rid of yours.

I am keeping the boggarts at bay at the moment thank you Hacienda. With winter and the virus spreaders about to descend on us I can only keep my fingers crossed-like you. There are so many different bacteria that get in there and many which are mentioned are new to me so I do lots and lots of research. No need to apologise. Everybody knows that you always do your best to support others.

No need to apologise. I don't understand either why Health Unlocked tagged it as "sexual disease". No problem anyway. Thanks!
