When will stem cell treatment become approved and available to Help? I read articles dating back years yet see no true therapies being offered. Frustrating if you ask me.

Hi!! It seems they have been studying them for about a decade on lungs...lungs seem to always be last. They are still not approved or covered by insurance here in the US (for lungs!) They are using them on hearts, and a few other organs, hopefully, lungs will be soon. I don't know why, but I think Biogentic Medicine seems to want to really cure diseases, I have been watching them closely.

Hey meg! Yes it's exciting stuff and I pray for those scientists to help all who are in need. Makes me wish I would have become a scientist in medicine darn it. Maybe wouldn't be sitting here praying for them ha! Not sure why lungs would be last being they give us the breathe of life. I wish them all the luck in the world to help defeat chronic illness and diseases.

I would like to know, why lungs aren't somewhere at the top of the list. I do believe lungs are getting more attention than they use to....they have alot of catching up to do. You'd think breathing would be a priority....wouldn't you?

Hi, I have followed a trail of stem cell treatments around the world. The UK is far behind most Western countries, most specialists say there is no firm evidence that it will help.
The USA, India, Thailand and Ukrain and also a few i clinics in Germany do it ( mostly cosmetic tho'). Try looking up clinical trials, they have numerous treatments they are testing and there are around 26 clinics over there that perform the treatment.
UK hospitals are few but one that I have been to is The Royal Brompton, they have "trials" and treatment. One member on this forum had it in USA some 18 months ago and was doing fine, another unfortunately died having been to Thailand.
The treatments are usually outside if the NHS so you have to pay and wherever you go it is not cheap, be prepared, travelling, living costs on top of the treatment.
There are possible alternatives such as Lung transplants, lung reduction, lung coils and lung valves, depending on age and general fitness. Lots to research.

In Britain they are behind research into stem cell work with lungs. In the future perhaps?????

They offer stem cell treatments here in the U.S. but I have read that it's basically bogus medicine, at least at this point. But I agree that it is surprising that so few real advances . have been made in lung treatment. When I was first diagnosed they ordered a heart cath, thinking I could have a blockage. I was actually hoping that was the case, because that's something they can easily fix. Imagine that. Hoping for heart problems. Alas, they found no blockages, and all the trouble was in my lungs.

Hi, I've managed to find the clinic and have sent email. every inquiry that I have made excludes persons with a cancer which is why I have been ruled out so many times.
