I passed a milestone 😀

As we all know living with chronic lung disease makes us think differently from others, we feel we have not got years and years ahead of us, we don’t wanna plan too far ahead “just in case” we worry that a cold or flu will kill us that’s without any other complications we may get just by breathing, often we feel like dead men walking as we can go to bed feeling pretty normal and waking up gasping for breath, so I was really pleased and actually felt a little overwhelmed to see my youngest daughter have her first day at secondary school, it makes it more special as it was my last baby growing up a little bit more. Here’s to the next milestone.....x😝

I have lived with chronic, severe lung disease for 65 years since I was diagnosed at 3. If I had been reluctant to plan I would have had no life. I have raised two children, travelled the world and the first two of my five grandchildren are now in secondary school. Today I am planning my next holiday on my own and a road trip across America with my daughter next year.

Enjoy every milestone, plan for the celebrations and treats.

put the fears in a drawer and lock it!

Well done to you! You are an inspiration for me, what about flying does that interfere with anything, I was 16 last time I went abroad but I’d like to think I can do again, judging by you I guess i can x

Flying doesn't affect my breathing as I have bronchiectasis.sometimes when the air pressure changes all of the gunk.in my lungs just has to come out so I make sure I have an aisle seat. It's a marvellous way to get a clear out! If you have copd it might be a good idea to ask the others how flying affects them.

In spite of all the pain and breathing problems, Pete has a great outlook on life. Just today we’ve booked a nice meal out for our 45th wedding anniversary in November. We’ll have had our flu jabs by then lol.

Onwards and upwards and hope your youngest enjoys High School. Keep going. Xxxx 😘😘😘

You have said so much that goes through my head when i am on my own and i don't say it out loud. Like the saying dead man walking. But i also think that maybe you should switch around what you are thinking and instead of "don't plan ahead just in case" is do the complete opposite. Plan ahead then you have something to look forward to. My family all know i am scared of flying but it was me who actually suggested going to Jersey by plane last weekend. Its a short flight from London and i was over the moon that i did it. I was worried about the flight more than my COPD. Good luck to you .

Well done you! I have always been terrified of flying too and cried on the four take offs it took to get to and from my holiday last week. But I did it. Every little plan and challenge gives us a reason to battle on.
