Pip assessment

I'm concerned today as my husband as his review today we are both worried they might stop it but at the sane time we both know that he is not fit enough to work. Before his health problems started he loved working and doing all the things he used to do. Is anyone or have anyone been through the same with pip and any advice please

Hello I have my first ever pip assessment on Monday may I ask what his experience of the assessment was previously ??

I'm trying to get it because I've had 18 ambulances since January at least half involved a stay in hospital for a day or two

Its OK I found out anybody can get copd even if your working. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was but its very stressful was for me and my husband but if you think your entitled try to claim it

I haven't got COPD but I have brittle asthma which is what caused the amount of ambulances and admissions x

I sailed through my pip review and got it. Just be honest in what he can and can’t do and what you have to do for him that he can’t. If he has difficulty walking stress this as well. Good luck!

We told them last time he as problems walking but they didn't believe him. When he first claimed it was due to been rush into hospital with a perforated bowel he as a stoma then another 3 more operation for hernia and relapse. Since then he's had weak knees and he as gerd and asthma but last year he got diagnosed with copd but no one told us until a few months I was wondering why he's was tired and poorly a lot and that answered it when he gets stressed he GIP's gags and chocks and can't breath.

You will need to get your GP or consultant to state his case. He will only get mobility element if he can walk 20 metres or less under severe pain or short of breath. If it fails go to appeal and get documents from doctors.

Hi even if your husband can do something don't forget to tell them how long it takes him, how much he suffers, and how long it takes him to recover. It is a criteria of PIP that he needs to be able to do things in a timely and safe manner. x

Hi there, one thing to keep at the forefront of your mind when having your assessment, is that PIP is awarded due to personal care and mobility needs. It's not an earning replacement benefit, so the assessment shouldn't address work capability. If you get chance, look at this factsheet prior to the assessment. Hi thankyou I will have a look and ring if I need to he should have had this review done at beginning of last month but the assessor cancelled it made him really poorly just hope they turn up.

Hi i had an assessment on the 10th of july. I got a letter dated the 26th July saying they had all info and I would get a decision soon. However last week I had an assessment at home from community nurse and O.T and I need a few assumptions to home and disability aids. To late to tell pip now but I will go to appeal if I don't get it. My assessment lasted only 25 mins. She didn't take peak flow or ask me to walk or anything. She just asked was I up to a small movement test. I am puzzled how they have all information after 16 days, I have 2 consultants at hospital so I doubt if they have even contacted them. My gp. gavee me a very good later to take with me though. I have severe brittle asthma and inflammatory arthritis as well.

You can ring them up and let them know. My husbands assessment was hour and a half long she spoke about everything and asked to do a few movements. You could always ring and say you want another assessment by someone else and tell them why. My husbands had someone like that

Hi, Pip is not to assess work capabilities, but how much your illness effects your life. just make sure you tell them ALL of the things that are difficult.

Hi, as has been said, look on line at the information about how the process works and what you need to say and what you don’t.

I was with someone at a PIP interview and because he was proudly explaining what he could do on a good day he was turned down, even though that day was probably 1 in every month!!
