COPD/Carbon monoxide

I have had copd for many years, only the past year on oxygen. About 10 years ago I ended up in hospital after waking up one morning hardly able to breathe so called an ambulance.

I was in intensive care for nearly two weeks and had a 10% chance of living (found that out many years later) I had been sleeping in a room with a gas boiler in the cupboard with no outside vent. The Doctors did not know that or what was wrong with me every one thought I was in hospital because of smoking but I had at that time cut down considerably, it wasn't until I saw something on the television years later that made me think that perhaps I had carbon monoxide poisoning, I read up on the subject and I am sure that is what I had, has anyone else had experience with carbon monoxide?

What an awful thing to find out, 669rivers. I haven't had that with CO, but I did discover that my gas meter, in a cupboard by the sofa where I always sat, had been leaking a little gas for years. No wonder I kept having headaches. Great improvement when it was repaired.

Poor you, that sounds awful. Lucky you phoned for help. As you said you couldnt breathe it would be a chest infection more likely. They would have told you at the hospital as they can measure your carbon dioxide reading via blood tests xx
