Hello Minnie

Hello Minnie, I take 750mg twice per day for two weeks when I have an exacerbation of my bronchiectasis and have been doing this since 1986. No problems.

Hi Minie

Been on them for a year after Amoxacillin stopped working for exacerbations.

Seem to work well, but have to keep reminding GP its 14 days not7.!! Take Aziththromycin three time per week during Autumn and winter.

My OH has asthma and bronchiectasis and has had this drug many times in the past. He now doesn't have antibiotics until the sputum microbiology results come back. It is really important in order to target the infection with the correct drug. If you haven't sent in a sputum sample, perhaps you should suggest it to your doctor.

Hi, I've only had this once and cannot remember - I do recall though that Amoxacillin has absolutely never worked for me, even when sputum tests said it should. Being put on courses of it only prolonged infections for me, bacteria building up therefore needing other, stronger and longer courses of antibiotics, usually mycins. I always refuse amoxicillin now Explaining why every time. Hope this helps. P

You need to be careful with Cipro as they can cause tendon rupture especially with the Achilles’ tendon although I believe it can happen with any tendon. So the first sign of ankle pain discontinue use.

Having said all this, this antibiotic has worked wonders when I have taken it.

The last thing my consultant says to me when I leave his office is “watch your ankles”

Good luck with it.

I take 750mg x 2 daily for 14 days.

Only use them as rescue antis but the outcome has been good!

Can no longer take azithromicin as damaged my hearing.

Also take cotrimoxamol (spelling not correct) was 3 x weekly, now 7 days a week with an antibiotic 'holiday' June to September.

Good Luck....
