Inhalers
Hi everyone. I use dukilar inhaler but don't feel getting any help from it. What do other people use I am seeing my doctor soon so what to talk to him about best inhalers. Weston spurivia for 5 years but after a while not working. And to top it all I have water retention in legs keep them up as much as I can. Doc upped furosmide and dosent seem to be working the one leg can be a bit tender to touch.

As my respitory team told me “ all inhalers are suitable for COPD, some are more suited for Asthmatics “
It can more of a personal preference as to what suits.
I started on Spiriva, Seretide, Ventolin. After referral to respitory team and with several sessions I change my Seretide ( gave me tight chest) to Fostair NEXTHaler which seems a lot better. Being with the respitory team I was able to look at more choices, and use on a months trial.
The problem I found with GPs is they normal have there own preferences based on information from the local consultant.
Where as the respitory team are more open, they even have inhaler booklet. You may have to persist with your GP, to find a suitable inhaler don’t be put off.

Hi, I had severe asthma since I was a baby, and now copd for the last 20 years. Am 55 now and have tried MANY inhalers. Spuriva didnt seem to notice ir work at all. Ventolin, Advair, Duoneb, Albuterol, and more. These work for me now: Combivent for jnstant and maintenance with symbacort or tge equivalent in my nebulizer. Nebuluzer med is Performist with Budesonide. These are working the best. Good luck and hope we can all breathd easier soon!

I was on Duaklir Genuair and it made me very breathless, with 'tremours'. Eventually got it changed to Spiolto Respimat which has made a huge difference - can breathe again. Everyone different - hope you find one that suits you soon. Good luck
I, too, had a similar experience with Adair & was switched to Stiolto respimat. What a difference for the better! I think it’s because the Stiolto does not contain steroids - if you don’t need them, don’t take them is the opinion of my new pulmonologist. Glad to hear it’s working for you.
I still can't believe the difference in my breathing (spent 6 months struggling on the Duaklir!). Love it! xx
The best choice or combination of inhalers is likely to vary from individual to individual, and also for individuals over time. I can only report that I started with Fostair twice daily and Ventolin as a back-up to relieve immediate symptoms. The Fostair gave me "the shakes" to an unacceptable extend, and after some experimentation I have ended up on Clenil Modulite (100 mcg) inhaled twice daily via a spacer, and Duaklir twice daily, which I should add proved a godsend for me, and has greatly improved my quality of life I still use Ventolin for emergencies. Having an experienced doctor is very important and if you are not satisfied you must insist on seeing the consultant. Best wishes, and best of luck!
Thank you everyone it's given me some thinking to do. Will speak to GP who encorouged me to go on to dukilar as it was a new one seemed to work but noticed the last few months not doing much for me. So a chat with gp. Won't see consultant til end of August.
Its incredible how we all react differently to different inhalers. I had a bad reaction to the steroid inhaler Clenil Modulite (ended up in hospital) and you can see from above how Duaklir Genuair affected my breathing, and yet both are very beneficial for you. This is why we should all try different inhalers till we find the best one(s) for each of us individually.

For years i have been taking seretide.which helped very little.then my thai doctor asked to try a new one called spiriva.and the combiation of the two.has changed my live for the better.but i still take steroid capsol ever morning.ask your doctor about it.now i do 200 on my rowing machine every day.a drink 3 large beers every nite.take care.
Hi I am new here. Have had asthma all my life .but diagnosed with COPD about 15 Months ago. I Take TRELEGY ellipta just once a day and Carbocisteine 375mg
3times a day. Also Salbutamol when needed.
I don't wheeze so much now .Tend to rattle more!!
Was told it can be a post code lottery when it comes to the Trelegy so think I'm one of the lucky ones
not very good at computors and the like. So hope this make sense. Old age!
