Gone Fishing

Went fishing today for the first time in my life, must be entering a new childhood at nearly 70 years of age. Cant believe how tired I was after fishing for 6 hours. The concentration involved watching the float and the elation when catching fish also made my pulse rate rise. The weather was nice for the In the afternoon it warmed up and I found myself getting a bit breathless. I decided to take some Ventolin, just as I started my float bobbed under and I had to stop and reel the fish in. Once I managed to get my Ventolin and relax and breathe I was fine. I really enjoyed the day as it was something new. I also got some exercise walking from the car park to the fishery. Looking forward to going again next week Never too late to try new activities.

That's absolutely lovely! Tell us about your future catches and the ones that get away.

Hello Pantani . 👋

How marvellous for you to enjoy something new. It sounds like (the breathlessness aside) you had a terrific day . How lovely. Did you catch many? And do you cook them or let them go again?

Thank you for sharing your nice day with us.

I caught about 12 fish, a couple were a reasonable size. In the UK coarse fish have to be returned to the water. You also have to use barbless hooks which do less harm to the fish.

Great Pantani, Your name made me think of the times My Hubby & Friend went fishing in the "Pantano" in Spain, they caught some Big Carp, This has nothing to do with our Conditions....... The last time I dropped them Off with Sandwiches, Trays of cans beer, very cheap in Spain, I said "Hasta Luego" and went shopping. The Heat was on, very hot as per Usual, some hours later I went to Collect them.....They were Both flat out Drunk, The sandwiches had been used as Bait, which the Carp preferred, and later after getting home they both Dissapeared to the Local Bar , next to The Ayuntamiento (town hall) and Church......I Decided to march them out of the Bar, into the Town hall to cancel the Fishing Permission and into Church to report to the Priest....We found him alright "Blessing the Fish" as it was Animal Blessing day... OMG, I gave up and opened a Bottle of Vino, If you can't Beat them Etc............ Happy weekend everyone. Feliz Final de Semana. Besos. XXXX

hey, off the subject I know but how are you doing after your op ?

My op went okay , I had an epidural rather than a general anaesthetic. So my worries faded away. Quite an experience lying back with my feet in the stirrups lol. I was in hospital for a couple of days and am getting back to normal now. Thanks for your concern.

never too young to try new hobbies- I tried paddle boarding whilst on holiday last week and I am 64 in a couple of weeks. Keep enjoying your fishing.

Well done Pantani. I think fishing is good for relaxation. Nice to try something new however old u r. Walking to the fishery helps get the lungs working. Good luck to u mate. Enjoy it when u go again. Best wishes from this end. 🤓🤓🐟🦈

But dear Pantani, what of the gators? Be careful. They work in teams and tip the boat. Then they eat fish through you.

Mel from the US south. :)

PS- glad you had a great time.

Luckily we dont get gators in the UK.

My brother was an angler. He persuaded me to go one day, about fifty years past. Must have been a bad day. All I got was a sore bum, countless midge bites, no fish and totally bored. Did I do something wrong besides going? Would add not been since.
