Please try, hard as it is, not to get ahead of yourself. You might want to ask your GP to refer you to a respiratory consultant, if only for elimination purposes or to get a diagnosis of something very treatable.

Let us knowhow you get on.

Ive been to pulmonilogist twice. The first said i have asthma (but didn't perform any test) and pneumonitis this was way back Last February. And my new pulmonilogist said i have asthma also but didn't perform any test either. And he said i might have tb but it turn out negative. But 3 of my last 3 xray last april the impression of the radiologist was negatice cardio pulmonary findings. Huhu

We are not medically trained aeparcs and can only advise on our experience and that of others. A ct scan would give a more definitive diagnosis and you might want to look into that as it has been going on for some time.

BLF have medically trained nurses you could contact. I am assuming, rightly or wrongly that you are in the states and I think you can get in touch via email, but hopefully one of our lovely administrators will let you know if this is correct and give you the details.

Push until you get some clarification but there will come a time when you may have to accept that what the medics are telling you, assuming they are more helpful and give you a dx and rid yourself of what it might be.

Good luck

I am not certain but I think this service is only available to UK residents. aeparcs - you would need to check this with BLF staff (via private message) who will be back at work on Monday.

Hi there are many reasons for a cough and the least likely is something like lung cancer. Most people who are diagnosed with this are a lot older than you and usually smokers or ex smokers. It would be extremely unlikely you would have it.

I would go back to your doctor and ask for a peak and flow test which should be able to identify if you have asthma. It is just a breathing test. A spirometry test can also be used for diagnosis as well.

If nothing is found however or you are diagnosed with mild asthma it is eminently treatable and is quite common these days. Don't let this turn into health anxiety please. x

I have hypersensitivity pnuemotitious , caused by environment what they don't know, so it's caused scarring of lungs fibrosis ,was ill over Christmas that's when it was diognosed although I'd been under a different hospital for years being treated for reflux , which I knew I didn't have ,if picked up sooner it wouldn't of gone this far, so seek treatment right away , they do think mine could of been caused by birds, where I used to live pigeons used my window ledge as a toilet and I was forever swilling it and brushing it , good luck and let me know how you get on x

My first pulmonologist said i have pneumonitis but that was way back last February 8,i.never had any encounter with birds so its quite confusing. Do u experience back pain. And chest pain too? And do u cough every day? Anyways thanks for the response 😊

Hope you feel better soon.. Im still coughing especially when i perform some physical activities but not that bad and not that often. More of a habit Cough i guess. Honestly i dont know how My cough went away. I just woke up one day and its just went away. Maybe its more on psychological side because when i dont have a specific diagnosis before i kept thinking of the worst thing like tb or other lung diseases but when i had my result thats its clear My cough just went away. Now im stressing because i have and incidental finding of mild fatty liver. How long you've been coughing?

Maybe you have a cough variant asthma,or just an infection, based on what i'd read in some forums before, their diagnosis was asthma or infection because it wakes them up at night .. Sometimes it takes time before it goes away trust me ive been there i was so hopeless i cant sleep no appetite eating cos i spend most of my time Thinking it was cancer i use to isolate my self from everyone cos its consuming my mind.. Coughing more than month doesn't mean something Serious we all have different body some of us recover from sickness so Quickly some of us don't and it takes time. In my case it took 8 months before i recover.. Dont worry. I'll pray for your fast recovery.. 🙏😘

Most Likely what you experiencing now is an allergy, change of the weather or habit cough... And i had the same case with you before my cough goes away when im asleep so nothing to Worry about. Maybe its more of a psychological thing.. You keep over Thinking bout the cough and how to get rid of it so your mind will always send Signal for you to Cough. Just calm Down Everything Will be fine soon... Just keep me Updated 🙏

Hi aeparcs....hope you are doing well!! I'm just updating you on my cough...its pretty much gone. I cough a couple of times in the morning and that's it. I had a broncoscopy and doc said airways were a little inflamed which was causing the coughing...he said it's like chronic bronchitis. the other symptoms in my throat we're due to a Candida infection in my throat by my vocal cords. Thankfully I'm feeling much better. And thank you for your kindness and support!
