Funny story but worrying!

Have you never wondered why consultants liked to be called Mr instead of Dr? 😂

in reply to

I thought it was surgeons who were called Mr Don but could be wrong..not for first lol

It is just surgeons - a strange way of placing themselves at the top of the hierarchy.

Hi 02Trees I took your advice about asking to see consultant only I was first shown to assistant Dr? I gingerly asked to see consultant and in fairness they were amenable and I was seen between two other patients ..junior Dr was taken to A&E with a badly bruised ego, joking, regards Ger

I might not have been clear - in my experience - you have to see the registrar who you've been assigned to, then while seeing that person, you can request and can get to see the consultant. Glad you managed it Ger :)

I've never actually seen any of the Mr consultants whose names grace the clinics I attend. The Ophthalmology one I've been not seeing for over 20 years! I suspect he may have died and nobody has noticed.

I had one consultant change my meds and I ended up in hospital A&E And he still refused to change me back until I carried on being ill and my heart doc took me off them. I now have a marker on my notes saying I am allergic to that med!

Offcut that's ridiculous and so unnecessary hope it wasn't down to ego what you went through, hope you have recovered regards Ger

It ended up with the Heart doc and the lung doc who changed my meds rowing in the next room to me. But the lung doc was senior so won on points but then the Heart doc booked me in for an urgent appointment and stopped them. I had over 2 months in Ambulatory care getting my heart rate down from 150 at rest. I have never had an appointment with that lung doc again and to be fair have been very good with me now.

That's really scary keep strong and God willing healthy..Ger
