Can anyone understand this ?

I was in Hospital for 12 nights after a mishap during surgery having 3 endobronchial valves fitted .

I was then out for 8 nights at home and felt really bad and struggled to do anything eventually going back in for 3 nights and coming out today with lower left lobe pneumonia ( but feeling so much better 🙈😂)

Any help would be appreciated

You would be better off ringing the BLF nurses. At least they speak the same language. :D

I am sorry I can't help you with an explanation but just wondered did they put in the valves or did they have to stop the operation before they had put them in? If they did put them in was that what went wrong during the operation? If they did put the valves in how much difference do you notice now that it seems you are somewhat back to normal or is it too early to tell? I hope you are past the worst of it and are close to fully recovered now.

Hi they put 3 valves in which seem to be working but during the fitting something tore my lung which was not picked up until I was in the recovery area . At this point I had an emergency drain fitted due to my left lung collapsing and no one picking it up

Wow you certainly went through quite an ordeal. I sure hope the end result is worth it.

I had 5 of these fitted 4 years ago they didn’t last long for me because of my illness and the lungs expand and the air gets by them so I didn’t gain much benefit from them after 6 weeks

The good thing of the proceedure his it’s non invasive when fitting them

Hope this helps

That is really too bad. Did they remove them then?

No they have left them in

Sounds like you had bleed then pneumonia is section of lung DEFO would make you feel like you did.

Usally NHS like doctors who messed up to fix things SO would chase up follow appointments observations.

Defo not nice places ... bet your glad you home if not little worse for ware
