Hi

I have just been discharged from the hospital after being on a 6 day I V antibiotics .

I still have the pain on the lower right side and back

I have been told this could take a long time to recover . For someone who is air crew is there a time frame I won’t be able to fly until ?

Really worried this has been quite a scary thing to go through but don’t want to rush back to work although I do wish to feel better .

I am still on antibiotics is rest the only way to a full recovery now ?

All depends really healthy people don’t usually catch Aspiration Pnuemonia.

Did they not say what if any what underlying cause may of been if any.

Can take longer if sufferd from lot of infections IF not and you are usually quite healthy I would say few weeks.

Any pneumonia is not nice at all and you have my every sympathy AND hope you make speedy recovery.

Rest is only way to recover but you should start getting better able to do more each day.

You just don’t go mad

Wish you well in your recovery. In your place I would want to know how I got it?

Depends on your general health , again I would ask advice. Go back to see GP if you can .. respiratory nurses are good at giving advice on this, also ring British Lung Foundation, advice line.

Every time I fly I catch cold bugs albeit usually in the bugs season, spring & late autumn..

So you need to ask your employers HR/health team for guidance.

Hi Harryseagull.

I’ve got pneumonia too. I’m afraid the only way is to rest. I was told I have to do nothing for six weeks and then I’ve got to go back for an XRay. I may even need to go on steroids then. I wouldn’t think mine was as bad as what you have been. I was on IV antibiotics for three days and have come home with ten days supply of tablets. Pneumonia is quite a serious thing to have so take it easy and get plenty of rest. Maybe I’ll see you on your next flight. As long as it’s somewhere nice and warm. Take care.

How I got aspiration pneumonia . I choked on a cod liver oil pill one of the very large ones and it got lodged in my lung

The only other problem I had with my chest is I got whoooping cough a couple of years ago pretty sure from a passenger on my flight , I never really felt I truly got over that . Other than that normal colds and flu’s throughout the years .

Thank you everyone who has replied it’s very much appreciated .

Hi usaly I choke on wine gums or sport mix sweets.

But can see how them big cod liver oils would do it.

Are you on any inhalers

Very strange I’ve just been admitted to hospital I’ve been complaining I felt worse than normal and normal is not good, I was told it’s just symptoms of copd but I knew I felt so different for the worse I was ambulances in and bloods X-ray etc came back pneumonia in left lung but I seem to feel more pressure in my right , I do bring up a lot of mucus but it’s suddenly gone like thick jelly in gross lumps is this what pneumonia is like plus I’m so weak and legs not good, this is day 4 so I do feel bit better than when I were took in I could barely breathe when moving any other tips on pneumonia please. Thanks
