I really hope all goes well and that it really improves your quality of life. I sure hope you will come back and tell us how the operation went and how much difference you experience as well as any problems you may experience.

Good luck and will say a prayer for you.

So Sorry to hear this, I had them done last Month. I take Carbosyteine to clear the Mucus. Speak with your Lung Consultant and Try and do the Huff Exercises. Good Luck, Hope they will reconsider you. xxx

I don’t think you can get that in Australia I’ve been using mucolytic and I’ve had packets of them with no luck .Have the valves improved your breathing

Oh Yes, immensely, had 4 inserted. Still have 02, don't need it all the time now. I carry on with Meds as Normal as I am on the Transplant List also. maybe ask GP for the equivalent of Carbosysteine, taken 3 times a day unless prescribed more often, Worked for me. Good Luck xxx

The first I heard of these was when one of our members had them fitted in 2012. You can read of his experiences here:

Hope this helps

I had these valves fitted 18 months after I had a lung reduction done I woke up from the operation my breathing was greatly improved and was sent home 24 hours later but because of my lung conditions Emphysema and COPD plus Bronchiatis my air ways get bigger through time because of this my valves started to let the air get passed them because the act has a one way valve I was probably one of the early patients to try this out but now they don’t offer it if you have certain illnesses they lasted about 3 months

I have since had the other lung reduced but came out of hospital needing oxygen ambigaturly I think you call it basically has soon has I move out of the chair I’m on it

So good luck with the procedure they wouldn’t offer it to you unless it’s going to work you will be ok

Hi I can't have these fitted or inserted but I met a guy who swears by this treatment method and says it has turned his life around. He can now do things that were well outside of his capability previously. Go for it .

Don’t give up hope at first I thought a waste of time but then I noticed I had a shower without struggling to breathe from then on I started to notice small changes so I decided to try and get a bit fitter started riding a stationary bike 2 mins at first now 20 mins no oxygen needed so just start to try and do things you just might be amazed at what you can achieve
