Hi try fishinsurance.co.uk I used them last year and found them to be very good and affordable. I paid £124 for 2 weeks to Turkey for a family of 3 I have interstitial lung disease, type 2 diabetes and on oxygen 24/7. Good luck and have a fab holiday x

Same here I always use Fish Insurance, got my future daughter-in-law covered (COPD) for her trip to Australia this year (she is out there right now) with no problems. I use it for my cover in the UK everytime I go anywhere and they have been great (paid for hospital treatment in Scotland and hotel bill for my husband as well to stay with me then brought us home by car (as I can not fly) at no extra cost to us.

I am in the same boat, there are no insurers out there that want to help us. Look at the NHS, they are our carers but if a life saving drug is available even for young children is to expensive they will not use it. We are only a commodity to insurers. Lots of them hang up as soon as you say copd. We have booked a holiday in the UK this year, at least we can be sure of some cold rain. Chin up.

Fish Insurance are great and reasonably priced trip to Australia for future-daughter-in-law (COPD) and my son cost me 207.01 for 19 days cover . I use them every time I have holiday in uk and they were great when i was taken ill in scotland paid for hubby to stay on with me covered all medical expenses, hotel and car to bring us both home (I can not fly) at no extra cost to us. Have a good holiday

depending on your age there is an add on to your EHIC card, it is called EHIC Plus, we got an annual insurance for Europe for both of us for less than we were being quoted for a week in Portugal

Give fish a try. I was being quoted more for insurance than what I was paying for my holiday until I found fish, I couldn’t believe the price difference. X

Hi Nanny, I too had a problem this year with Travel insurance, the others on the forum have said try Fish but Fish would only cover me on single trips. Try All Clear, after trying 7 other insurers who like you wanted to charge me a fortune I tried All Clear and they covered all my many illnesses and gave me and my husband Annual Insurance for just over £400. Result. Good luck and enjoy your holiday. Take care Maximonkey

I had problems trying to get an annual travel insurance,Fish,I could only get an insurance for 10 days, they wouldn't give me an annual one , allcear quoted me 600pound for an annual insurance,, medical compare, also quoted me an expensive one ,the best quote was was the post office for an annual one so I was very pleased with the out come.

All the best Nanny x6.

You could try Bought by Many which was recommended in the Guardian. I didn’t use them because I wanted cancellation cover for the UK and at present they only cover overseas. They don’t ask masses of questions about existing medical conditions and are easy to follow. Good luck and I hope you have a great holiday.

Have heard good reports about Bought by many. I am also getting concerned about Air travel with COPD. There is also the issue of "Fit to fly" assessments, supplementary oxygen etc etc, and I am trying to research the whole topic for a later post. Good luck and do post your experiences or Message me by clicking on my Name/ Badge on screen.

I am waiting to hear about a fit to fly assessment but have heard it takes ages and costs at least £80 i was told i understand the need to be safe when on oxygen but surely most people are not silly if you took your Oximeter to test as your flying you could up your oxygen or am i being stupid ! sorry but i think its another money making scam

Well i just phoned up All clear for a cruise quote and guess how much wait for it £3000 HOW STUPID IS THAT , think its a big possibility we will be staying in good old uk for our holidays bit sad as love going abroad

That is ridiculous. Don't let it get you down. I suspect I will face the same sort of charges. How do you arrange the Fit to Fly assessment?

You can ask resp nurses or doctor for referral but how long it will take is anybodys guess, i am going to keep trying x

Hi I ended up using Saga it wasn’t cheap though But it was the best deal at £200 for 9 nights to Florofida. It would have been cheaper in Europe but it was either that or stay at home. Good luck as it did my head in searching.
