Dyson pure cool fan.

Hi everybody, I’m writing with confusion and just need some honest answers as I know we are all in the same boat with our various lung problems and I know how helpful every one is on this website.

Now in my bedroom I have a air conditioner (bit noisy) but keeps me cool at night time especially when the last heat nearly put me six foot under.

Now I need something for downstairs as it’s unbearable for me and noticed this latest Dyson pure cool fan suppose to be very good according to the advert, but nowhere can I find anybody saying that it will keep me cool in the heat, yes I know it clears the cooks burnt toast but will it help me to keep cool like the one in my bedroom, so I’m hoping to hear from anybody that’s happy with this latest Dyson model or is it another noisy air conditioner for me downstairs. Sorry if I have dragged this out a bit, the heat affects my head as well as my lungs. Thanks a lot from Ken.

I use the dyson tower heat cool fan, kept me cool all day.

There is no advantage with the air purifier version as it scored poor in the ratings.

Yes I have one , the previous model I think....a big investment......but it does keep me cool, and it will oscillate if you want as well.

I find the air purifier OK, you can set it on auto or manual.

The other night I threw my old gardening clothes down on the floor next to the Dyson , and immediately the purifier switched to 10..., the highest setting . Doesn't say much for the state of my clothes!

The new model I see advertised looks slightly different from mine.

I wonder if you could test a pure cool fan out in the shop before you invested in one to see if it suits? Or email Dyson for more information.

I have a Dyson pure cool fan, it is very good for cleaning the air and does help to keep me cool, if you suffer from the heat, I don't know if the Dyson fan will be adequate, you may need a stronger fan. Lilian xxxxx

I’ve got the Dyson air purifier mostly downstairs and the Vax upstairs in my bedroom, running as I write.

Neither work as air conditioners, only air purifiers operated by a fan. The Vax certainly cleans the air of dust, perfumes, etc and sorts out a stuffy room, to save opening the window mostly. It has several settings and a timer which I set for two hours every bedtime. It find the rhythm of the motor comforting but it is louder than the Dyson.

The Dyson purifies the air very well, with an app to show feedback on the air quality over the day. When set on the cool setting, it cools the air just through moving it around, there’s no air conditioner, but I find this effective. It also has a warming option, with a thermostat. This setting is highly efficient and warms the room in minutes then switches itself off unless air needs purifying, without heat. I call the Dyson my robot, becsuse it sees to my needs so well! It has a night setting which is especially quiet, and a timer option too, as well as a remote control. It switches itself on and off as the air quality requires, or as the cool setting or heat thermostat dictates . I wouldn’t be without either, but the Dyson is more sophisticated and efficient....and also at least four times the price!

Thanks everybody as without your help it seems a big maze of companies all selling what they believe to be the best, so for now I will still keep open minded as I’m thinking surely what Dyson have brought out surely must be better than there previous models considering making progress in life is the way forward in life, but I’m not yet convinced if this new pure cool model will keep me cool when mr sun comes to visit us again, all winter I was looking forward to some warmer days by I really had forgot how much the heat affects my breathing making me housebound due to my lack energy. Anyway thanks for now and it’s lovely feeling for you people to help take away my sometimes feelings of loneliness with this illness. Thank Ken.

Thank you for initiating this conversation. I am also housebound much of the time winter and summer. I am not beset with lung or heart problems (tested many times), but I have breathing problems and severe low stamina. In the winter I don't mind being indoors. Summertimr is welcoming for outdoor activities, but the heat and humidity break me down. Thought about a tower fan. I do have air conditioning and a ceiling fan. The a/c does too good a job and I turn it off periodically. The ceiling fan is helpful but not completely. So I am tossed and turned. I found good information in these posts and will check them out.

Hi. They were using them when I was in hospital. I thought about getting one for myself but I was put off a bit by the cost. Definitely cooled me down!

I've got the Dyson air purifier, the long tall one, purchased 2 years ago, I wouldn't be without it, definitely cools the room down and makes it more comfortable.

I really ummed and arred before buying it at £399, but now I'm glad I did. X

Hi Shirleyj, does this fan heat as well? I was in John Lewis looking at these fans/coolers recently and the sales assistant didn’t seem very convincing with his knowledge of the Dyson fans x

My one doesn't heat, just the fan and purifier. I know they have bought a new one out, don't know how much it cost though. Shop around and see if the price varies.

Hi Ken, my daughter has this Dyson hot/cold fan and it is very good, it is silent and does keep the air cool. I do not find it a problem with my breathing, so go ahead if you wish to buy one. Maximonkey

Hi Ken, the heat bothers my breathing capabilities too but I live in somewhat of an attic so stale air is one of my chronic complaints I have a Honeywell standing oscillating fan that’s SUPER dooper quiet and does a great job- gets dirty pretty fast with dust, dander, dog hair and feathers. On the other end of my living space is a Vornado which blows a very strong wind so I have that one turned away from the room to suck the hot air out of my high ceiling. Then I have a portable AC unit w/2 vents(so it can work hard to do the job) and it’s 14,000btu’s it’s a Whynter. I’ve done lots of research as well as trial an error to find a way of making my space liveable as well as comfortable. Nothing beats a car ride though, I think it’s due to the smaller space it gets cool faster and stays cool longer. And the ocean breeze which fortunately just down the street, when you stand on shore and not a ship or any motor craft in sight the air quality and comfort is just amazing! The smell of the salt along with the mist in the air makes it an experience that feels like you can taste air! Crazy huh. As far as Dyson, I only really hear about them in association with vacuums. The name in an of itself I believe to be overpriced. I can’t help it, even if I were to win lottery I still wouldn’t buy stuff simply out of desire, I’d still have to find the best deal on the best brand ect.If you have the opportunity I’d go around to the appliance/electronics stores and talk to sales associates and other consumers who have already done the research for you.~ Mary

Hi I have 2 Dyson cool fans. That’s what they just fans that move the air around but they are the best very quiet. If you go onto Dyson website you’re find all the information you need.
