Pete takes Azithromycin 3 times a week with no adverse effects. Get in touch with your GP. Take care xxxxx

I have been taking it thrice weekly for the past 8 years with no side effects. As suggested by sassy59, contact your GP or Hospital Consultant if you are concerned.

Hi,

Seems to fit with the known side effects rxlist.com/zithromax-side-e... just wonder if the "abdominal pains and chest pains match your "back & chest pain"?

Maybe the GP can offer an alternative with less side effects (to you)?

Good luck

This is what I'm given for exacerbations. Always tolerate it well. But side effects are very individual. So you probably should see doctor as soon as possible and clarify whether it's side effects or something completely different.

I have been taking this wonderful Antibiotic for nearly 3 years after my first exacerbation, only had one mild exacerbation since being on it 3 times per week, I truly believe in it. can't comment on your side affects, so many other Meds we all take could be the cause, I've got fat, that's down to Steroids, and along with Ventolin ie; Puffing too much, I have the dreaded purple Bruises on my Arms, not good for summer short sleeves. Hope you find out from your GP, or Respitory Team and your side affects calm Down. Good Luck xxx

Hi Mike, I have been taking Azithromycin for 6 years now and call it my miracle pill, side effects were uncomfortable for the first 6 weeks but only Tinnitus since. As my doctor said when Tinnitus started it is a well known fact that antibiotics ending in mycin can affect hearing, however, it is a small price to pay to be well most of the time. Go see your GP, these side effects you mention could be anything, but I do not think they are Azithromycin related. Good luck Maximonkey

Hi mikeadams51 ... I was supposed to be being started on Azithromycin earlier this year. However, I got Cdiff (Clostridium difficile) over Christmas and the New Year period, so my consultant changed her mind and put me on Coliston, which I have through my nebuliser. I started this treatment in January and have only had one hospital admission since this being for retaining CO2. Try asking your doctor about the Coliston. Let me know how you get on! x

Thank you for your reply. Meds seem to have settled down now so I will persevere and see what happens
