Hi guys. I'm a 38yr old guy who is almost certain I have copd. I did a spirometry test yesterday and didn't do very well. I'm waiting for the docs diagnosis and what will happen for the rest of my life. Wondering if there are any other ppl my age dealing with the same thing. If so is love to hear from U.

Wait for your results first before even thinking any further about it. It could be something else other than COPD. Once you have your results, that is when you can deal with any problems. Until then, if you smoke then quit, difficult as it is, it is the best thing you can do even if the results are all clear, you have had a wake up call.

Of course come back to us if the results are positive for a problem I am sure that we can help you deal with any symptoms and help you to still have a good quality of life.

Hi ,like 2grey said please wait for your rusults, don't automatically think you have COPD. Think positive and if you smoke please try to stop. Please let us know how you get on. 😊 Bernadette xx

I sure will. Im assuming I do because of the side affects and not having smoked for about 1year.

Of those of us here with COPD, some were told when they were older and had reached stage 4. Others were told when they were younger and were still at the 'mild' stage. If I had to choose it would be the latter. To be warned that you have COPD at the earliest stages means you have the time and the opportunity to try and turn it around or halt it in its tracks. If you are diagnose with it see this as an opportunity to make sure it never gets any worse. There are members here who will have COPD for the rest of their lives - and die of something else entirely. Think positively. Welcome to the forum. :)

Thank you mummy. Just not too sure what to think. Very anxious for my outcome.

I was told at an older age (mid 50's) that I had mild copd. x

I believe to correctly diagnose it you will need a CT Scan of the lungs too.

I had an x Ray so I'm still unclear what is the diagnosis. I have an appointment on Tuesday next week to hear all the news.

I didn't have a CT scan, just a spirometer & a lung x-ray. The lung x-ray was primarily because I thought my breathlessness was caused because my breast cancer had spread to my lungs. COPD never entered my head as I'd given up smoking 12/13 years ago.

That's exactly what I did. Im waiting to find out. I quit cigs over a year ago and was hoping my breathing would be back to normal. But the reality is its not. So we will see soon after my doc appt next week.

i was diagnosed 6 years ago am level three did Spiro and x-rays. After 1 week in hospital on oxygen and various inhalers i was told i had copd. Have never smoked since then and now walk and kayak on a regular basis. Copd was the trigger for me to get out and do things rather than sitting watching TV. Just remember to do the exercise at your speed and don'tpush to hard
